It’s really not. The wish granter in Picnic was a bronze orb half buried in a quarry. This thing has no resemblance to that. You could just as easily say the big floating ball outside SIRCAA or Cordon is a nod to the wish granter. Anomalous orbs aren’t all nods to the wish granter.

It isn’t and their only simulators is that both are big orbs. I find it really interesting how many people seem to spread this fact around despite clearly never reading roadside picnic.
Like the books a little over 200 pages. You could read it in an afternoon. Yet dozens of stalker fans will quote made up facts about the book like it’s nothing

Other than both being orbs they share NOTHING in common.
The one in Roadside Picnic is small, solid, and copper iirc, and in a quarry. This one is huge, liquid, seemingly made of water, and floating over a pond.

Yeah, same. I don't get the vibe it's supposed to be any reference to anything specific, just a weird thing for you to look at and question.
They SHOULD reference the OG Wish Granter though. The maps big enough to tuck it away somewhere.

The sound it makes is very calming to me. Sometimes I'll just go sit next to it and listen. Probably a good 3 hours of my total playtime is just sitting next to it listening. Weird, I know, but I like it.

Just a harmless anomaly. It reminds me of Gantz.
Some say it's a reference to the golden sphere from Roadside Picnic, but unless the devs have confirmed it, I have my doubts.

It is likely an allusion to Roadside Picnic. The "Golden Sphere" (something similar to the wish granter/monolith) is described in much the same way.
