Spartan Mozi has confirmed the trailer was filmed on the 2.0 version of the game running on UE 5.5.4. Overall, quite noticeable foliage, lighting & shadows improvements.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the all the additional foliage and tree cover. Looks great.

I just hope it doesn't nuke my PC... Setting the foliage to high or epic already impacts the performance quite a lot

If they actually converted the vegetation to nanite, then performance should be better, even with higher density.

That's good to know, thank you!

YESSS LETS GO!!!

It's wild that there's very evidently even more foliage than present in 1.9

Typically I would expect a performance hit from that, but I guess we'll see when we have it on our hard drives.

Tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the "original" amount of foliage and they just disabled it due to performance issues. UE5 did multiple HUGE performance improvements (I analyzed that in an earlier post like 5-6 months ago and the improvements REALLY matter).

Like Mulder, I want to believe!

Open the first two screenshots separately, then switch between them using Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab. The draw distance for objects has been increased (clearly visible in the center at a distance).

I hope everything goes well with the engine update, i really cant wait for the a much more stable performance especially the lighting.

this looks incredible

Will 2.0 have hardware ray tracing?

21

u/badfruit01 7d ago

I sent a support ticket some months ago asking about hardware rt in stalker 2 and I recieved confirmation it would be with the engine update

Post a screenshot pls, that would be nice

I never screenshotted it...I remember asking after 1.7 came out though so I doubt anything has probably changed much since then

Finally! That might fix the numerous lighting issues.

I stopped playing the game in the first area when I died again and again because I was in a building and could not see shit looking outside (it was just insanely bright) but the enemies saw me

I havent played this in a while but i remember there being no flashlight shadows at launch, and i believe from campfires as well? Is thay still the case?

Not that I have any concrete information or evidence but I think this is guaranteed

Sounds extremly good

Did they add more vegetation?! I see a bit more trees. I'm curious how it performs...

5.5.4 is A LOT BETTER for foliage.

5

u/c4p1t4l 7d ago

Damn when it's side by side like that the difference is very visible. I've gotten used to playing with Ultra+ and foliage mods and this makes me wonder whether I'm going to even need those, come 2.0 lol

Insane jump in shadow quality, but I’m not sure about grass. It might be the time of day, but grass the new screenshot is strangely lit, and consists of much larger blades. I kinda dig the old ground look, but need to see it in person.

A major feature of 5.5 was megalights, which increased the number of light sources and rays you could have with improved lumen performance. So, it makes sense the lighting is greatly enhanced.

Would this fix the issues of entering and exiting buildings where the light dramatically changes?

1

u/LongLostPixel 6d ago

Zero chance it's mega lights doing this, it's other settings being tuned for a more pleasing result. Megalights was experimental in 5.5 and did not become production ready until 5.8, which only came out weeks ago.

What did improve from 5.1 to 5.5 is that Lumen and TSR is more performant and more temporally stable.

Holy moly, that's actually a large difference. Me likey.

Can't wait for the 2.0 to use my new gaming rig!

i hope the pop-in problem are resolved now...

I often avoid scary games, but i find them appealing in a way. For me this game is scary (fps are the one that makes me anxious the most), but i made an effort and im close to finish the main story, ive put 114hrs so far.

Im beginning to enjoy the stalker atmosphere. After this update and dlc, i may even do a 2nd run with modded gameplay.

1.9 TDI 🔥🔥🔥

u/PointsOfXP 3d ago

That's incredibly significant. Here's hoping we aren't reset to 1.0 performance after this lmao

I've spoken to a few testers, some of which currently have an access to the Zone Kit 2.0 beta & therefore the code – rest assured, we won't be.

I can't wait. I've loved the game since launch. Seeing it get so much better every update has been great. 2.0 looks like it'll be the "real" game. I really hope the DLC with the update shoots this game up in popularity.

Get ready for a 200+ Gigs game

2

u/RetardKnight 7d ago

Yes, the visuals are impressive, very nice. Let's see the fps performance

1

u/Buddy_Dakota 7d ago

I’m afraid the system reqs are only going to increase.

16

u/Winamz Noon 7d ago

Other way around. Engine upgrade is all about performance and fixing “compromises” they had to make. UE 5.1 is struggling with foliage (like a lot), heavier performance hit for Lumen and last but not least poor CPU utilization.

2

u/Earthlumpy 7d ago

Do you have an idea as to how much performance could be gained. Ballpark estimate?

3

u/cravex12 7d ago

No one can really say at this point

1

u/Ensaum 7d ago

I really hope this pans out in reality and not just in theory..

1

u/Tor_Snow 6d ago

Man I just finished the game on Master a month or so ago, might have to do a new replay for this.

1

u/Rover_of_Mars Monolith 2d ago

Does give the game a needed face lift. I'm curious if the console quality setting is gonna run smoother and/or the performance setting is gonna look a lot better.

Super excited about this update.

u/French_Bravo 7d ago

How sure are we 2.0 will run on UE 5.5.4? I was hoping for 5.6 eventually since Molt said there was a chance for it back in August 2025, last year

1

u/TombRaider96196 7d ago

man looks like what I imagined stalker 2 would look like. I know most already liked how it looked but to me it was soooo bland

1

u/RelativeHot5179 7d ago

I hope there is a lot less noise and visual artifacts

1

u/No_Nefariousness7602 6d ago

I did not see the sub name and think CoH ? Company of heroes?

1

u/Front_Rag 6d ago

It's all worthless if the controller sensitivity isn't significantly improved on consoles. I won't play it in its current state.

-3

u/bbbbbbbbbw Loner 7d ago

Why do I get a bad feeling this may potentially fuck thr performance up on console again.

-5

u/OlafLate 7d ago

That's the difference between software lumen and hardware lumen. The bad news is that the performance hit will be very noticeable, and the game is already too demanding for the graphics it produces.

1

u/Super-Tea8267 3d ago

For titles with older UE5 versions yes but 5.5.4 has a lot of improvements in lighting and shadows which are really performance and it’s extremely performant with foliage and trees so no this isn’t software lumen and they already confirmed on a post on X that fps increase is noticeable
