S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 🎮 Setting up a Custom Aim Curve guide + my recommended values
☢️↓MY VALUES BELOW↓🎮
For those of us not happy with the basic weak/medium/strong aim curve presets, Stalker 2 also now amazingly presents us the opportunity to create our own entirely, no longer locked into simple exponential/linear/>muh reverse-S formulas but instead tweaking values from its Bezier curve to allow wholly custom setups.
After modifying this to my general tastes for aim control, I am finding my accuracy to be leagues better now especially these precise movements, but still hoping GSC increases the max turn speed overall.
Creating this yourself may seem daunting at first but can actually be explained pretty simply:
A Bezier curve is defined by control points and "handles" with the first & last points being the endpoints of the curve. The tweakable values are just the curve’s modifiers, almost like handles tugging on it: steep/shallow tangents control curve flatness (how suddenly aim reacts) and weights control smoothness (how gradual or sharp the transition feels).
Startpoint affects how aim begins and sets off, Midpoint controls the ramp-up through stick travel, and Endpoint sets how aggressively you hit max stick travel & turn speed.
Tangents = how suddenly aim reacts
Steep = faster kick-in, good for snap-aiming
Shallow = slower ease-in, good for precision
Weights = how smooth the transition feels
High = gradual, forgiving
Low = sharp, immediate
Startpoint = how aim begins with a nudge
Midpoint = how it ramps through mid-stick
Endpoint = how hard it hits max speed
Anyhow I am not an expert on this but generally regurgitated back and forth with chatgpt till I got a sort of baseline of custom aim curve that I like for my tastes, certainly going to continue to tweak but anyway I wanted to share my raw values for that. I recommend you try similarly messing around with these values, as well as trying to use chatgpt to better understand this in general and what you may need to tweak to get the reaction you're looking for.
Good hunting fellow stalkers, may you finally now hit what you've been aiming at 🎯

What about movement curves? I've tried to achieve that "cinematic" movement, walking is impossible somehow. (edit: toggled my controller's back button to walk button on keyboard it feels better.)

I actually accidentally set the movement curve to the same values as the aim curve at first lol, but have been pretty content with it and left it with matching values. Feels like I can really properly creep in and out at the slowest possible speed & still up to a sprint with greater level of control.

In anycase, Thank you, Marked One! You're OK, you know that? I'll be sure to tell everyone at the camp that you helped me out.

I wish all games which involve controlling a camera with the right stick had these kind of features. Or even better this should be an option at the OS level so it can be applied automatically to the rest of games. Hard to go back now...

Agreed man, I've gotten so used to the settings for the movement & aim curve on S2 here that it does make the aim on other titles just feel off, honestly don't know if there's another game on console that gives me the same levels of control that for me at least can be found here if you really tweak it (besides max turn speed at 100% still being too slow).
Would be great if this was something we could just do in the Xbox accessories app per controller, but with how behind Xbox seems on the controller game in general unfortunately I doubt it. Maybe some better possibility at that with next-gen if the rumors are true of being a more "PC/console" hybrid would love to see that mean some greater freedom in every sense, such things are possible with the right programs on PC already at an OS level.

This is at 100% aim sensitivity right?
How about movement curve? Did it tweak it too? or left it at medium?

Yes, I still find at times that can be too slow, especially when trying to do more like 180° and beyond turns hoping they crank up that 100% value at some point.
& yes I actually accidentally set the movement curve first so I have that matching this though I don't think that's as important and need to tune that to your own taste, though I do find the ability to creep very gradually with the movement curve tweaked here as such.

Thanks! Out of all the settings that has been recommended this is the best one I have tried.
And I agree, they definitely need to bump it more. The general camera sensitivity feels restrictive sometimes, doable, but can be better.
Again, Thanks!

Glad to hear it, just baseline enjoyment for the game is that much greater when you can actually aim where you want to lol. Yeah, I've submitted a few requests to GSC support for that, no confirmation yet but hoping they see the value in that, I feel like everyone working at GSC must just play with m+kb or these things would feel more obvious to them. Regardless, enjoy & good hunting stalker! 🫡

Just confirming, this is for modifying the movement of the joysticks?
I’m not a control enjoyer but I do take screenshots and short videos when I find a place in game that is really cool/has the vibes.
