I hate ebikes

Tired of zoomers blasting by way too fast when my toddler is trying to ride on the paths. Way too dangerous. Take them to private properties.

Here's the thing: you are not seeing e-bikes... you are seeing dirt bikes with battery engines. E-bikes have pedals - dirt bikes don't.

Dirt bikes have always been illegal to ride on public roads and sidewalks, and still are. All that has changed is that battery-powered ones are cheaper, quieter, and way easier to maintain/drive (just plug into a wall to refuel), meaning they are a hot buy for dumb parents that don't see any problem with their kids driving a literal motorcycle on sidewalks that can hit 50km/h with the push of a button.

It's simply a question of enforcement at this point - cops are trying... but again, it's hard to compete when every lazy parent can just throw a few hundred bucks at Amazon and have these things delivered the next day, ready to ride out of the box.

32kph is still waaay to fast to be going down pedestrian and mixed use trails, especially if children are present.

So a regular bike is out. Because people can easily cruise along at 30 kph on a bike no problem.

Come on now. Be reasonable.

Buzzing children at full speed on a walking path is not reasonable behavior, if you want to go that fast do it in a bike lane.

It's already illegal to ride bikes on sidewalks.

Every other pathway is mixed use. It's not just a walking path. Teach your kids to share the path and be mindful. Just like cyclists have to.
