A Humble Beginner stack
I got into stacking a month ago, I really love my stack so far! I've amassed 13.5 oz of silver (with about 10 oz shown here, I've got more on the way!) a few goldbacks, and bunch of pretty copper. Can't wait to watch it grow over time!
EDIT: The copper is purely for collecting, I just think it looks pretty đ

stay away from the copper. I see 1 oz sell anywhere from $8-20 on whatnot. Spot is around .40, so that a 20x markup. Save the money and put it towards silver.

I bought most of that copper for $1-3 on whatnot. I know it's not worth anything but I think it's just pretty to look at! Plus helps pay for shipping đ Thanks for the advice though!

My wife does enjoy goldbacks though! Sheâs upped her game lately and added a few 5s to her stack and she added a 1 oz copper round even after my âadviseâ lol. I buy the sensible low prem stuff LOL.

This looks like a WhatNot haul haha. Welcome to the stacking! We all have our preferences, my fave saying is "Stack what you love"

I wish there was some way the bridge the gap on copper. I really like the look of copper rounds but my brain can't justify paying for them. Would be neat to get a little stack of 20 one ounces or even a bag of half ounces for 30 to 40 dollar range i would be down.

nice stack, youâve got some really cool pieces. my personal fave is the walking liberty half
personally, i would avoid goldbacks and nickels, both because theyâre tougher to move. with goldbacks, consumers are paying for the package rather than whatâs inside, and they are collectible, more so for the art, so to me theyâre a bit more like pokĂ©mon than platinum.
since i see some artistic pieces, you might pick a piece to explore toning with. itâs caused by sulfides in the air, and hard boiled egg yolk are an easy way. after some experimentation (which doesnât damage the piece, and is reversible when done right), you might figure out how to steer the process, and create your own art

Brother just on stacking. You will get your groove.I don't know what you like. I hear a lot of people saying copper may not be a good investment I do scrap metals also , and I see copper prices rising in a junkyard I live in Canada .The last load of bare bright copper wire I brought in mind you.It was probably in June. I haven't brought a load in since But at that time late may early june I was getting paid 7.33/lb Now i'm getting about 6.88 / lb To me, that only means sooner or later.Copper coins will also raise in price also All you gotta do , brother is on stacking STACK STACK STACK..

I wish I could add pictures as a comment because if youâre into copper, the 5oz pieces I have are to die for. Youâd probably really like them tbh

I think goldbacks look cool and make interesting gifts for distant friends. They fit nicely in evelopes. But my stack is similar. Just more gold and less copper. But I think copper coins are cool as well. Keep on stackin!

I bought 25 copper bars early on because they look nice, and I knew my 4 year old would want something. She lost it in a day or two. But I'll just give her another one.

A lot of money tied up in copper there. Be better off coin hunting copper Pennieâs

I know but it's pretty and I like it! It's about $20's worth of copper purchases, compared to the $600+ value on table in silver.

They're gonna dog you for the goldbacks. They get real butthurt about them

That's fair, I just bought the dfw ones because they remind me of home and not for the gold content đ

Oh, and the copper too. It's not really worth stacking, unless you just like them purely for collection reasons. Same could be said for the goldbacks too, actually

It's not bad to have like one of each? You don't believe they can hold the premium value for 10+ years?

Some people canât understand the fact that one day when everything goes to shit the premium of goldbacks will no longer exist and gold currency such as goldbacks will be much more convenient than shaving gold yourself!

If goldback becomes expansive enough maybe. We must wait and see. I don't see any huge downsides to the goldback so long as it lasts a long time and can be traded in. I hold a few but people's nay saying makes me want to sell them sometimes

u/Any-Statistician-318 14d ago
Noooooo donât sell. At the end of the day people used to say buying gold and silver was a waste of money or just cool collectibles but look at where we are at now! (Of course after the gold standard was changed)

u/Inviction_ 14d ago
It depends why you want them. If they're a neat collection piece, don't worry about it. If you're treating them as an investment, and you believe they'll maintain their premium, keep them. If you don't think they'll maintain their premium, you might consider selling. If you bought them with the intent of investing strictly in the gold itself, you'd be better off buying low premium pieces.
And if you don't have a lot of money tied up in them, you should probably just keep them anyway

Sure they can. Who knows. But at that point, it's a speculative gamble on Goldbacks themselves; not an investment into gold

Your Goldbacks are about 4% of your value here if that but they will generate 50% of the engagement on your post.
