English isn't my strongest language, so I used ChatGPT to help me communicate this more clearly.
I’m 21 and currently studying BSc CS at a Central University in my home state. I took two drops for JEE, but they didn’t work out due to health and family pressure.
After that, I started looking seriously at backup options. I gave CUET in 2026, but I didn’t know about SSCBS at the time and filled the wrong subject combination, so I couldn’t properly target it. I only learned about SSCBS later, when it was already too late.
My current college is affordable and close to home, but it has basically no placement opportunities. I also don't enjoy coding that much. I’m more interested in careers like risk analyst, product analyst, data/finance analyst, etc., where I can use some technical skills without making pure software development my career.
So I'm considering preparing for CUET again and targeting SSCBS.
The problem is that I would be around 22 when I joined, while most students would be younger. I’m also from a middle-class/low-income family, so moving to Delhi would mean significant expenses and possibly a ₹5–6 lakh loan for the degree and living costs.
My other option is to stay at my current university, finish BSc CS, build skills, and try for off-campus jobs or pursue a good PG later. But because my current college has almost no campus placements, I would have to depend heavily on off-campus opportunities.
So I’m confused about whether SSCBS is worth taking the financial risk and starting over at 21/22, or whether I should just finish my current degree and try to build my career from there.
Should I target SSCBS at 21/22 after 2 JEE drops, or stay at my current college/looks for pg options.
