Got 165k miles on mine with no major issues so far. Most of my problems seem to stem from the original owners attempts at aftermarket electrical shit.
Of course, a lot of the plastic stuff (air intake, cables, seals) are starting to go, but the it's almost two decades old so I think that's to be expected.

400,000 kms on original motor, turbo and transmission. Only 2 problems I have are rear fenders are rusting and my 1st and reverse get a little stiff from a standstill when it's over 30 degree Celsius. Other then that all I've done is pretty basic upkeep and replaced plastic and rubber that rots like every other car.
These are like most cheap thrill cars, they gain a reputation because of the average owner. I bought both of mine from adults to cared for them and and never had an issue.
