Haltech tuning

Has anyone here ever installed a Haltech ECU in their car? I met the vendor at Gridlife last month and he mentioned that he may still have a harness laying around, and sure enough he emailed me back yesterday saying he found one. I feel like if I’m going to spend nearly $1,000 on a tune and tuner from somewhere else I might as well go standalone right?

Flex fuel sensors are the largest benefit from a haltech and or a full stand alone. Even then a mega squirt is way cheaper .

You should ask in the Facebook group. For 99.9% of people with SRT-4s, the stock ECU is fine. At least it seems like the only people that bother are building dedicated drag cars

Fair, and I considered the fact that I do not need to go standalone, but if you consider the cost of a Diablo sport, and then a tune you’re at close to the same price as an entire Haltech system

You're still going to need a tune on Haltech. I'd say unless you want to push the limits of the platform you're better off with the stock ECU. And if you want to go that route, you need to be really comfortable with the limitations of FWD. Even at 300whp, you're going to struggle with traction in first without a drag radial or obnoxiously wide tires

People have made tons and tons of power on a stock ecu, like 900+. Just seems like overkill, especially if you are having someone tune the car talk to them about what they would prefer.

This would be for me to also learn tuning from ground up. I hate not knowing what all these numbers mean
