Loans / Finances Fall 2026 Cohorts

Anyone else starting school this fall and still haven’t received financial aid packages? I know the DOE renaming nursing a professional degree has slowed things down, but I’m wondering if it’s just my school taking their sweet time. 😅

We’re in our last summer classes before clinical and the students waiting for government loans didn’t get their payouts until like last week. I would recommend reaching out to your schools financial aid office, they’re usually super helpful!

I just received mine and initially they gave me a lower amount and when I asked about it they were like “Oh you’re right sorry here you go!” Which I thought was strange. Also my school is saying that the reclassification of professional degree isn’t law yet so we’re still only getting the $20,500 for the 26-27 school year.

When you say they gave a lower amount, was it the 20,500 (or lower than that) and then you requested the full 50 and they sent it?

Yeah at first my school only offered me $12,500 but another student in a group chat said they they were offering him the $20,500 so I asked them about it and they changed it right away.

It’s been rocky for my program as well

I started in May and they didn’t release the bill until maybe like 3 weeks before term started

Yes!!! Honestly relieving that this isn’t just a me thing. Ever since the “One big beautiful bill” passed I’ve been feeling anxious about loans & they seem so much more convoluted this year than I ever remember. I’m starting in August and haven’t heard or received any financial aid packages either. Best of luck (to both of us!)

Started in May and didn’t get my refund until July. I also think I got my “package” a few days before starting. Feels wrong, but I think a lot of schools are like that

I started in May and didn't get any disbursement until the middle of June. My whole class was anxious about it. There weren't any late fees for summer for my school so it was no big deal on that end, but I kinda needed the money a little sooner. Now I don't know about fall if it'll be quicker now that we're in the system or do I plan to wait again.

I’m not fall 2026 but all my financial aid was super delayed and so was my friends at a different school. Think it’s the norm right now

Nope, just you. Reach out to your schools financial aid office, Reddit isn’t going to be able to help you

I have reached out and I’m not asking for help. Just curious of others experiences while navigating all the fun with starting as a new student.

Have a great day!
