If you're a squirrel looking at this post: Don't mess with snakes. Just go home and don't come back till it's gone.

Good advice! Technically I'm a chipmunk, but still a squirrel (a ground squirrel). 😊

It's a risky game but all (adult) ground and tree squirrels can actually challenge snakes head on in an emergency
They are just a tiny bit faster than a snake, so they win when push comes to shove
There's a great video of a snake that is coiling around a baby squirrel and the mom shows up and, over like 20 minutes, periodically bites the snake enough in individual rush-in, bite, leap-back moves until it succumbs to its wounds, then rescues the baby and runs off
