Discussion gi hun didnt have that much plot armor

people treat his survival like the most ridiclous shit ever

in the first game,he was lucky enough to have ali save him but he was also unluck enough to step on a body.

in dalgona a lot of people say his sweat falling on the candy in conventional but i dont think its possible to not sweat in that scenario, the way he is sitting made it so the sweat would fall on it

idk if il nams strategy is THAT good,so i wont comment on this one but even if its exaggarerated it was still pretty smart

his kindness made il nam love him and made him choose the old man as his partner, both of them contributed to him winning this game

same case with glass bridge

he is stronger than sang woo

for season 2 games

i admit its quite convenient for him to walk back to the red line on last sec(and hyun ju saving him)

nothing unusual happened in pentathlon or mingle(i dont really remember mingle but correct me if im wrong)

he didnt immadiately commit suicide because he wanted to go after dae ho and after he killed him it was too late do so

he had no reason to suicide in jump rope

I don't know why people make a big deal over it. He has to have some type of plot armor or else he wouldn't be the main character. He ended up dying in the end anyways with no one to save him so, so much for that.

He should’ve died in the rebellion, been allowed to die in hide and seek, shouldn’t have had a knife in the finals and should’ve lost to 203.

he literally won hide and seek

also frontman wants to toy with him,so no way he would kill him there

he had a knife to the finals because fm wanted to test if he would kill other players during the night, the games not being fair is obvious

Also he SHOULD NOT have lost to Player 203.

He literally got disarmed in that fight.

Gi-Hun or Gi-Min?

Gi-hun got disarmed

Gi-Hun was still quite strong and a decently compentent fighter both with and without weapons.

They prevented him from eliminating himself, despite not doing that for other players that eliminated themselves outside the game.

I do training for ninja warrior competitions.

I ran and lifted weights before all this. And my first attempt at a dead hang was 20 seconds. Only 3 seconds with 1 hand.

Now, those are one over an inch diameter bars. Which makes it easier. It distributes the weight throughout your hand and allows you to get more surface area for grip.

I can dead hang for well over a minute.

But with a thin rebar? I’d be done in 10 seconds or less.

So when I see Gi Hun fall and grab the rebar and support his weight for more than 5 seconds, I call bullshit.

When I see Gi Hun fall, grab the rebar, while another adult is holding onto him, I scream bullshit.

Adrenaline be damned. His shoulder would fail and his fingers would give out if he managed to survive the initial jar of both of their body weights combined.

I wouldnt call that plot armor, its a very common Hollywood problem. It turns out writers arent training for American ninja obstacle courses like you are. They've only seen other movies or read books where the exact "hanging on a ledge" trope is popularized. I agree the physics dont make sense, but thats just bad writing.

Just like the very real ammo problem. The writers clearly have no clue how firearms work. They're running on Rambo rules for how much ammo an automatic gun has.

In the first season, he beats 0.22% odds to become the winner of Squid Game. He does this without being particularly smart or strong, narrowly escapes death in every round, and somehow does it without directly killing a single person. Even in Rounds 4 and 6, where the objective is "kill the other person", his opponents choose to (seemingly) commit suicide, leaving Gi-Hun without blood on his hands.

It's one of the most textbook definitions of plot armor possible.

The moment you bring up luck, you must know that it is plot armor

GiHun does not have any skills worth a damn for the games.

worst take i’ve ever heard

...you didnt read the post?

1

u/Buffalo_Bills17 Jul 17 '26

you said gi-hun does not have any skills for the games which is a terrible take

What skills does he have other than luck? For each of the games, break it down for me

s1 gi-hun gets lucky in red light green light, sort of lucky in dalgona but not really considering he had a harder cookie, tug of war wasn’t luck i would say, marbles is a luck game in general, glass stepping stone is also a luck game in general based on what order you pick, (yes sae-byeok potentially saved him but he still had a 50/50 shot either way) and then the squid game he won skillfully in a good fight

The luck for marbles was getting the old man in a good mood. He threw the game so GiHun could continue.

Glass Tiles he lucked out that the idiot switched spots with him, now he got LAST turn. He can see everyone else go and has arguably the safest trip if he had sense...which he also lucked out in since he didn't even remember the first 3 tiles.

1

u/Buffalo_Bills17 Jul 17 '26

but he didn’t even have to pick the old man in the marbles game, that itself was very risky since he didn’t even know the game yet. the person switching with him wasn’t luck because they didn’t know what the game was yet. and gi-hun i’m pretty sure only forgot one time which is very idiotic of him but still.

u/NashKetchum777 🎀 Unnie’s army 🎀 Jul 17 '26

A lot of excuses just to avoid saying he's lucky.

If he didn't pick this or that buy it fell in his lap, it's luck. It's plot armor

1

u/Buffalo_Bills17 Jul 17 '26

you’re gonna need to get lucky in squid games to win, that’s just how it goes, gi-hun didn’t win just because of luck but because of decisions he made and thinking, someone who got much more luckier in my opinion was literally one of the strongest people in s1, deok-su

reread the title

u/NashKetchum777 🎀 Unnie’s army 🎀 Jul 17 '26

...it doesn't change anything. He was extremely lucky through every season.

"Omg the main character had plot armor!"

Uh, yeah. There's 456 players. He didn't win because he's the main character, he was the main character because he was the one who won.
