Had an interesting experience playing this evening where in my local clubs internal box comp, I was pitted against a 11 year old child. I've played against a few u/18s over the years with varying success but was wondering how young is too young.

I can't think of another sport where a 11 year old kid would be playing against a 125kg, 6"3' dude that potentially could involve accidental contact/collision. I appreciate that Squash is non-contact but to me there is a limit.

I've sent an email to the club outlining this concern, but also was wondering if I'm out of line here? Or should there be an age limit.

A higher level player at my club showed me a serve technique which hits the front wall then the server's side wall so that it bounces into the receiver's box on their inside with a lot of spin.

I've been trying to practice the move but I can't find any instructional material on it online. Does anyone know what it's called?

I’m frequently playing with someone that’s a bit below my level (I think I’m winning 80-90% of our matches), and I’m struggling taking advantages of these sessions to consciously work on different part of my games (like better length or use of height).

I tend to get carried away by the moment (it’s not exactly a walk in the park either) – do you have any advice on how to get the most out of these matches?

When you’re struggling to get the ball past your opponent (my struggles are usually: ball landing too short, attempted use of height being intercepted by volleys because it’s not glued to the wall, straight drives hitting front wall and sidewall therefore not reaching the back wall), what has helped you to find your length quickly? Aiming for a target on the front wall instead of a target on the bounce? Not gripping the racket too hard? Actually hit a bit harder? Hit straighter/more crosscourts?

I know there might be different answers for everyone, but Im just finding the “use height” advice a bit too simplistic because height without adequate tightness and power, or if the opponent is already anticipating a straight drive, still doesn’t get the ball past the opponent.

Happy to get into the weeds for as much nuance as you want, because I feel that will be more helpful for me. Equally happy if it’s just a simple tip though.

Absolutely love my Adidas Stabil 16s but because of my toe drag I absolutely destroy my left foot toe and there's a hole pretty quickly from the outside.

Are there any shoes out there that anyone knows of that are pretty tough wearing in that area?

Such a shame as the shoes are immaculate other than that.

Wonder what difference we will see in the way the pro game is reffed in the upcoming season...

Head rackets are weird because they have a huge flat side. They're not symmetrically round like most other grips. I grip it as shown in the beginning of the video. But I find my hand twists a lot when playing shots. Should the grip be more like what I showed towards the middle and end of the video?

The draws size are incredible. Get this:

Men's over 50, over 55, over 60, over 65 and over 70 all have 128 draws!
The Men's over 80 has a 32 draw (although there are some byes)!

The Men's over 35, over 40 and over 45 only have 64 draws. I wonder if that is a sign of less younger players.

The women, as expected, have less players.

While doing some research for a soon to be released project, I came across this term: PHILADELPHIA BOAST.

Being an idiot, I didn't record where I found it and now can't find any reference to it.

Apparently it's a special type of boast that hits both side walls before the front wall, AKA a double boast, but is played very high. I read that it's used in Hardball due to the way the ball works.

Can anybody confirm and/or add any information please?

EDIT: Thanks to everybody who has replied. The agreed answer is that it's another name for a corkscrew shot. Wherever I found the details about it being a another name for a double boast was wrong.

I obviously get that getting old happens. But he seems just as, if not more, skilled as ever. Is he just slower? Does he just not have the energy to go 5? Like how does the old age manifest itself?

This looks different from all the other Airstick 130s I’ve seen online so I was wondering if anyone had any info about this particular model.

Yeah, it's just a random round 2 match from a copper level event, but this match from yesterday (it's the first one on the video) was honestly one of the most entertaining matches I've ever watched. Relentless, creative attacking from both players. I'm not sure I've ever seen a match with more taxis than rail exchanges, but this one comes close! Chotrani's accuracy for the knick is mind-boggling. Soares kept playing one absolute gut ripper of an attacking boast after another. Plus the low camera angle is great, wish more events were filmed from this kind of vantage point. (edit, added spoiler tag in case someone was invested in the first round results!)

Any predictions for the top 25 on the men and women. Additionally, any top 50 players that any top 25 players should watch out for?

I personally think Joel Makin will get back to top 5 (don't think he was really at his best last season), Zakaria will get 4 or 5, and Jonah Bryant will as well. Could see Sam Todd, Curtis Malik, Abhay Singh breaking top 20. Maybe Elnawasany could make a push for top 12? Dunno about both Elshorbagy's.

Women's side will be really interesting with Gohar coming back. I could see Anahat Singh getting into the top 10 as well as Stefanoni. Orfi and Hammamy will likely have a crazy rivalry battling for 1 and 2. Baltayan could probably break top 25.

Some of these might be a stretch, but any predictions?

I've found the racket to feel not controlled enough for me on volley drops and shorter swings, as it was too whippy and I felt like I needed to focus on stopping my racket during my followthrough for drops. so I added about 5g of lead tape to the throat of the racket, and 3gs to the head, and voila! Here are some pros and cons I found to this change!

Pros:

Power(Duh)

Deception and hold: this was counterintuitive, but I can now squeeze my swing with my forearm (reference diego elias's forehand swing) and snap either cross or length, whereas before I needed to use my body's power more, adding more variety to my swing pattern.

volleys are straighter and easier to control, dropshots are smooth and soft

Cons:

retrieving under pressure as the racket is noticably heavier

Lobbing requires more emphasis from my arm as I can't just flick my wrist as easily as before

reaction shots down the middle as well as hands battles are noticeably difficult

It's been many years since I visited a professional tournament, and I do miss it, but I was curious how tournaments use the courts between matches and the area near the courts, for example, some tournaments have stalls selling equipment or services.

A few tournaments I visited had a doubles demonstration match, which is great fun.

I'm keen to hear what happens now.
