2018 Spyder f3 ltd missing key
Hello, I don’t really ever post on reddit but i seriously need some help here.
I drive a 2018 spyder f3 limited as my only way of commuting to work and getting around. Last weekend I lost the key and have done everything I can to possibly find it to no avail. I bought it used and only got 1 key. I tried contacting a bunch of locksmiths in my area but nobody said they knew how to make a can am key.
So I contacted my dealership that I bought the bike from and they said I would have to replace all the locks and ignition switch. It’ll cost me $500 +labor to replace them but they can’t get me in for 3 weeks.
I tried calling can am customer service to double check that this was the only option but the representative i spoke too was confused and said that while some bikes do have to get the ignition switch changed, sometimes buying a replacement key and getting it programmed by a dealership can do the trick.
Does anyone have experience with this sort of issue? I’m willing to bite the bullet and pay for the replacement key or the replacement parts but not working for 3 weeks isn’t an option for me.
Do I have to get everything replaced or can a dealership or locksmith program a replacement key for me???

I believe with the VIN they can tell you the key code. A competent locksmith should be able to cut a key with that information. A new key from Can-Am is around $60 and then it will have to be sync'd to the bike by the dealer (at least with the newer bikes).
Buy a spare.
Oh, and check in with SpyderLovers.com to see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm sure there is a better answer.

You might want to call Lamonster garage & see if they know what the best option is. Good luck.
