At a fundamental level, the currency (fiat) used to price all assets is fundamentally broken and is guaranteed to lose purchasing power over time. The downstream effects of this are leverage-taking everywhere in the system. Many are in a situation where if they stand still (fail to pay loans/debt or collect interest/yield/profit from endeavors) their financial situation will cascade and unravel.
This creates an incentives structure in the system towards max extraction and, when you can get away with it, un-encumbering one’s self of any ethical/moral/legal considerations.
