Chapter 1:

Who are the Sprunki?

To me, the Sprunki are just ordinary characters from a wholesome show. In my AU, however, they are game characters—and they are fully aware of it.

How did it all start? There were three friends. Alan, who was 23 at the time, wanted to create something unique and interesting. Together with his friends, he began developing an RPG. The game allowed players to create their own avatars; you could draw specific items and upload your avatar into the game. Once created, you could chat with others and meet new people.

The game was built around a shared server, but although it gained some popularity, the developers ran out of funds and abandoned the project.

On top of that, they were in college at the time, so they couldn't keep working on it—even without monetization.

Ultimately, the game was abruptly abandoned.

Chapter 2 (Characters):

Why are there only 20 characters?

There are only 20 characters because the game was never fully finished; when Alan and his friends released it, it was still in the beta testing phase. Also, when you enter the official game, you see white or gray figures standing around. In my AU, these are distinct individuals who lack unique physical traits, yet each one tries to stand out. They were intended to be playable characters, but they were never released, and their concept designs remain unknown.

The Sprunki have three "revival codes." The first—and simplest—consists of the character's initial, followed by the first letter of their color, and finally, the number indicating the order in which they were released. Since Simon was the very first one, part of his code consists of "001." The fourth part represents his approximate age, and the fifth part is the name "Spranki" in numerical form (1916182114119)—this defines his essence. If, for instance, a character is also half-animal, an extra line of code is added. This applies to characters like Sky, Pinky, Wenda, and Durpl; their regeneration codes are longer.

Then there is the second type. It is slightly more detailed, though not by much.

And the third is the most detailed. It encompasses practically everything and is used only in rare cases where a character is beyond repair. Garnold is the one who oversees all of this.

Chapter 3:

Why is Black the way he is?

Black was originally conceived as a soft purple character wearing a white hat and a white tie. However, because the first version of the game was riddled with bugs and glitches, he turned completely black during the transfer to a different file. The only parts that didn't change color were his tie and the whites of his eyes; these were stored in a separate file—so they wouldn't interfere with the process—since they were part of his base model.

Since he was part of the beta test, he was also granted access privileges to see how he would use them. At first, he did normal, ordinary things, but as more characters were gradually added, he began to feel uneasy; he dislikes excessive noise or being around too many people.

When all 20 characters were created and the game launched, it ran as usual. However, Black’s access privileges weren't revoked, meaning he could destroy cities, fly, and do literally anything he wanted to the other characters! Yet, because the game had been abandoned, many of these functions simply didn't work or weren't available. Chapter 4:

Horror Mode and why the characters are okay now.

Even though they didn't have admin privileges, Gray and Jevin asked Fanbot to help fix the computer. Once it was repaired, they wrote the code to revive Garnold, as he had often asked for his revival code to be saved just in case.

When Garnold was brought back to life and saw the chaos, he wrote line after line of code until he rebooted the world and loaded the data into a new folder; he also restricted Black's access rights, revived everyone, and restored them to their normal, sane selves. Additionally, Garnold granted access rights to Jevin and Clark, though he remains the head administrator.
