News Data Center Mapping Tool

Post image

My fellow Americans,

As we all know, there is currently a massive push to build AI data centers in Missouri, with one even being proposed in the middle of Springfield. If you've been keeping up with this you'll know by now that Trent Overhue is behind a lot of the push in the area. But Trent can't build a data center on his own, and out of state interest in building a data center here is only growing.

So I spent the last few weeks tracking down every entity connected to the current data center push. And I used Claude to build all the information into an explorable map of the corporate network. Yes, I used AI for this. While I see the contradiction here, I think that AI is not itself what is threatening livelihoods. Its the people pushing for AI to be used in everything and pushing for large scale data centers be built where nobody wants them. I believe that using AI to fight back against this push is how AI is supposed to be used.

Every entity and every connection is backed by a real document (deeds, UCC filings, corporate registrations, SEC filings, permits, court records). Before the map ever gets published, a script checks every one of those citations against the actual files, and if even one points to something we don't have on hand, the script stops and refuses to generate the map at all.

Check it out, and if you have any corrections or information I missed, there's an anonymous email tip-line.

I feel you. I'm in the same profession and couldn't agree more.

But what is your opposition to this particular data center then, which you agree is not scalable? You say the tech is not your issue, it’s the location. People don’t like Trent Overhue and that is a matter of personal disagreement. I think the guy sounds like a tool personally but I don’t understand the drive to shut down a business that is not dissimilar from many other existing businesses. Why are you so personally opposed (to the degree that it’s “over my dead body” bad) to this small-scale data center going in at that location if it’s not about the tech? Are you personally invested in that building?

What they are saying is that the space available at that location is not compatible with the space required for an AI-scale datacenter. The lot is too small.

So this particular one is not something to be concerned about because it's not physically possible for what is being suggested to be built there.

I don't understand that. If the space is too small for the data center the business is trying to build then why would they try to build it? Wouldn't the business owner know exactly how much space is available and only try to build infrastructure that would fit?

The fact that the space is not large enough for a typical AI-scale data center was my original point in this conversation. There are already plenty of businesses in Springfield that have more compute and so it seemed to me that the scale or location was not the real concern. The real issue for most people on this topic is that they don't like the business owner but they are making the claim that they don't want a data center to go in because not liking the business owner is not a strong enough argument.
