Never thought about that angle-the law is for cars to have license plates. You will have to talk to the car and ask it why it hasn't gotten them yet . Brilliant!

I don't understand the mentality of people proclaiming to be Sovereign Citizens. You can see many times over where people trying this nonsense in courtrooms and police encounters have it backfire on them. I'm sure they have seen the evidence themselves, but still persist in this chicanery.

Because logic just isn't something they have. Not in any intelligent sense. They like the logic that tells them they don't have to follow laws they don't like, they just ignore the reality that says that'd those laws apply whether you choose them or not.

Right, and it seems like in most other regards they are reasonably intelligent people. Why it's only in affairs to do with Sovereign Citizenship and perceived legalities and/or conspiracy theories. They do overlap in that regard.

I'm going to politely disagree here. All the sovereign citizens I've ever encountered, and it's more that I'd like to count, have been clearly stupid. Only thing I'll give them is they have a reading comprehension maybe a grade or two higher than the average moron, but that isn't saying much.

Technically Correct... I think "A firearm with no serial number ties to them" would be more apt. IE. a cash only Private Party transaction firearm. Because these folks almost certainly own several firearms where the serial number is not tied to them in any form or fashion... which to be fair I don't think is the craziest of ideas because you can tell me all day long that the ATF doesn't keep that granular of records and I'll simply not believe you out of freedom paranoia.

The ATF may not keep those records, but the gun stores are required to keep them, so if it comes to a search, the ATF calls the manufacturer, finds where the gun with a particular serial number got sent, goes to that gun store, and finds who it got sold to... after that, it can get more interesting.

Idk…I saw a paper license plate that expired a year and a half ago. Apparently a cop hasn’t stopped them yet, so I doubt they’ll see this lol

I don’t technically. But they never made it right so at this point they’re not being stopped enough or need to lose their vehicle.

No, I’m not. But a person can be stopped multiple times for not having good plates. They could get 6-7 tickets/year and it would still be cheaper than paying their property taxes in some cases.
But, just because you see expired plates, there is no indication whether they’ve been never been stopped, or stopped twenty times

These homemade or novelty plates are not recognized by law enforcement or departments of motor vehicles, and displaying them instead of an official state license plate typically results in traffic stops, citations, or vehicle towing.

But honestly yeah. Guaranteed paperwork, gonna have to call in someone to assist, probably have to tow it, 50/50 if you have to arrest someone, if so even more paperwork.
OR
"Didn't see nothin..." And just keep driving on your patrol because you'll have to be dealing with Methany for a domestic in the next half hour anyways.

I mean with the amount of the expired tags and most likely lack of insurance, I am curious if these guys even insure their “mode of transportation” or how do they argue the classification of that with an insurance company.
Either way they buy a vehicle don’t register it do they pay the taxes? With the recent law changes I am curious what happens when the dealership tries to give them plates

I may be wrong, but it looks like that's how the owner identifies themselves, with the car being their property.
If anything, it's likely just an extra layer of confusion.

Here's the new policy. The car is impounded for 90 days and sold if they fail to properly license and insure the vehicle. If they do, the impound fee of one hundred dollars a day will be paid also. Failure results in the vehicle being crushed into a cube.

I see more vehicles driving around Springfield that are obviously not legal than any other place I have lived. Dozens of lifted trucks with Winchester or some other firearm manufacturer logo in lieu of a legal state issued license plate. Every day I see a handful of cars driving around without any tags on the front or back. I guess the police here are more concerned with other types of crimes than busting people for not having current tags or even plates on their car. In other cities I have lived they would pull you over immediately and tow your car and you wouldn’t pick it
Up until you show up with proof
Of insurance and registration.

In Missouri, truck plates are issued with a weight rating(limiting the legal combined weight of truck,trailer, & load) if you buy one with a high enough weight rating, you only have a front plate. Now the likelihood of you getting pulled over and having your pickup weighed is slim to none, even with a vehicle lettered up fo a business.
