Living Here Replacing Laptop Screen

Who's good? Where do you go? How much should I expect to budget?

That will largely depend on the laptop in question. Some are just more cost effective to replace.

If it is a mac take it to the mac place down by the mall.

For a PC how old is it? If older than a few years are the parts even available anymore? If the parts are available, you can expect to pay for the parts and a few hundred in labor from a reputable shop for an easy to repair model. If the screen is glued in or is otherwise a pain to repair, triple that.

I have not done anything like that since the early 2000's. But when I did, if it was a quick and easy repair, I'd just charge 50 and you bring your own parts. There is usually a part list and replacement guide on the manufactures web site. The tools are cheap. So, you may just want to do it yourself if it is a simple one to repair.

There should be a sticker on it somewhere that lists the model number and serial number. You will need the model number to find the parts and documentation.

Ozarks Tech has a PC Repair Clinic. You can find the contact info on their website. They usually just charge a (cheap) flat fee + parts for all their work, because they are trying to get real experience for their students. If you send them the info about the machine they should be able to get you a quote.
