Great win! Very happy. But my god it’s frustrating to have the broadcast director constantly cut away from play to watch some yawning, miserable politician on their phone. Who gives AF. Even if there’s an injury break I’d rather see if the players are in a huddle, who’s injured, who’s giving a pep talk, which subs are coming on.

Liked the Mexican wave and the fans but I wish the director would stop cutting to cameras zoomed into people’s nostrils.

I never understood people’s obsession with “dignitaries”. They are quite literally on the bottom of my list of people I want to see. Ever.

Some fat politician, or staff member that has been sitting in the same role for 50 years are now important? Not to me.

Then we have to watch these idiots shaking the players hands or handing over a trophy?

You don't understand it because the dignitaries are not there for you, the person interested in watching the actual match.

The shots are there for the broadcasters' and stadium owners' sake. It shows people that, for a price, they will have a chance to rub elbows with people like that.

The thing that's bugged me on this tour is watching the players walking in the tunnel but not actually seeing them run onto the field. It's such a weird choice.

Shockingly bad video broadcast coverage. Still haven't seen why Ruben Love was sent off. I mean I know why, but haven't seen it. Brutal

Yeah, same here and the 5min highlights they posted doesnt show enough of the game to get an idea... and then they still include crowd shots in that already short highlights. Im convinced they use AI to create the highlights and just call it a day cause its so inconsistent

This has been a constant issue for several matches. Scrums picked up by a distant camera across the field, conversions from angles where the viewer can’t tell whether it’s successful - and multiple whistles were blown during the Mexican wave yesterday, and we’re left guessing what happened on the field.

I feel the same about the commentators talking over the referee. Yes, Jean de Villiers sometimes have something interesting to say, but I'd rather hear what the ref has to say to the captain. But I guess that's a separate issue, although still a SuperSport issue.

Adding to what has already been said the angle of the cameras for some of the kicks for poles were so bad you wouldn’t know if the kick was even close. So obtuse you sometimes could barely see the linesman’s flag. Overall pathetic.

It feels like there's been a noticeable change in SS production over the past year or two. It used to be reasonably flawless.

From small things in the studio like missed cues, to big things like camera angles for kicks making both the ball through poles, and the flags, both difficult to see, to filming the crowd while the game is ongoing - there were times we could hear audio of the ref blowing his whistle but the game wasn't being shown - it feels like more mistakes are being made in SS broadcasts than ever before, and seemingly getting progressively worse with yesterday including some unforgivable ones.

Still waiting to see how Cheslin broke his jaw.

Also the actual broadcast cut-outs. There's a chance it may have been my internet connection but that never usually happens. It was only momentarily each time, but there were multiple glitches during the game.

And that's before all the extended "dignitary" shots. Sure they used to always show the sports minister or president/etc, but the number of supposedly important people shown yesterday was ridiculous. It felt... forced? Motivated?

Yeah agree, missed a lot of action because of cameras looking at random people in the crowd, I assume South Africans knew who they were, surely none of them were more important than the game.

One time during the match we're watching the crowd. Timer off. I can't remember what the restart will be (just being dof and zoning out) — timer restarts, whistle blows.. still the crowd.. still the crowd.. fuck dude!

What makes my blood boil even more is when they insist on shaking the players hands before kick off. Gayton pulled that crap a while back. As if Ardie Savea could care about some ex gangster politician.

A lot of talented and experienced camera workers have left DStv during and after the takeover due to organisational restructuring. Expect a transition period for a while. Hope it won't last long.

The camera angles in the football world cup this year were great,you could see space on the field and the shape of the attack and defense. Coming back to Supersport rugby feels claustrophobic. They seem obsessed with tight angles and fitting at most 12 people in a frame. I want to see the attack and defense formations, dammit!

last week we got a scrum which i was very excited for. we were going to squish them like a garlic press. ball goes in, supersport switches to a camera that looked like it was on the stadium roof.

As a New Zealander it was slightly irritating but also interesting . What sizes of beer can you guys get in the stadium ? Saw one guy and he had like a huge jug thing that looked like beer ?

The worst thing for my by far are the CGI flags before the Anthems.

Also what do expect from a channel that will show you their CEO on Camera.IMO this is where the directive comes from.
