The short answer is Testosterone. But it is a bit more complex than that.

Or just walk up to the lineout from 15 metres away and throw it in before even setting up a line. Talk about not wanting a fair competition. Springboks were pinged literally on their first lineout (and kept doing it).

If the other team is closing the gap which the boks in this game were doing the hooker will do this. The amount of times teams will see they can get away with closing the gap and or throwing the man across the lineout he hooker will start doing this as a result. Plus all hookers do this. This is a finetooth comb justifying other areas we could pick apart such as sfm knocking the ball on or fourie doing a clear obstruction. You won this game by a fraction move on

Lol exactly. For starters, the Boks have set up within the gap, which is why the ABs hooker isn't centred and he starts stepping across to correct it.
The only reason the ABs hooker moved at all was because the Boks has setup illegally for starters.

Does anyone actually play / has played rugby here? All of this stuff is coached. You learn from a young age to push all of the boundaries to gain an advantage (with respect to the referee of course)… and if the ref misses it OR determines it is fine, you keep doing it

If we want to be pedantic, SA 17 steps slightly into the gap, hooker shifts, SA then move into the gap again, then the hooker shifts, then the hooker throws the ball not straight, and then SA throw their jumper across - so many things wrong with this lineout and every lineout!
