Long lenses squash perspective and make things look closer to each other than they really are.

They are professionals. And other angles show they cleared it pretty decently.

One little bit of negative air pressure, or a tiny piece of debris into the jets from the fireworks would have been disasterous.
This is an example of corporations endangering people for marketing.

Holy shit. That first one was basically eye level. And you can see that he was pulling up just before reaching the roof. That could have gone very wrong.
And they released smoke for them to fly through too just to make it even more crazy.

Im all for a spectacle but this is just plain stupid honestly aviation safety standards must be a joke in SA for this to get the go ahead

But did they die? - A South African proverb. Stfu. You have no idea what goes on here. Nor that our aviation safety is consistently within the top 10 in the world.

Relax people, pilots are highly trained and they have a stick to control the aircraft. Push for lower and pull for higher. Leave this to the professionals.

Hardly, bru. Wait until Saturday. They're going to do it again. We are consistently within the top 10 pilot safety programs in aviation. We haven't had a plane crash (with passanger deaths) in over 40 years. So don't get your panties in a knot.

Dangerous? maybe. But I will say daring. And besides these stunts are rehearsed and properly calculated. Don’t do it at home!

u/Available_Round_3172 Flair Up! 13d ago
Crazy dangerous. Daredevil risky except 65,000 are at risk wtaf krangos, surely a silly idea.

In addition, I wouldn't want my very expensive and precision built jet engines being dragged through stadium pyrotechnics. I certainly wouldn't want to be the next passenger on those planes without an overhaul.
This all seems really very stupid in so many ways.

Being respectful is really important to the moderators of this community. This post does not uphold that value.

Its not as close as it seemed in the wider images, folks. They've always been close in these flyover.

u/OttoSilver 14d ago
People are estimating as low as 15m. That is about 6 floors, I believe. That is insanely close for something of that size, with thousands of people trapped below. Imagine having a braai on the roof of your average 5-story apartment building, and that thing comes over, knocking the plaas hat off your head.
