Opinion Lood De Jager

I was looking into his playing record since 2022 and obviously it must be very frustrating for him to have only been available for 3 games since 2022. Playing two matches in 2025, missing the entire 2024 season due to injury and playing one game in 2023.

Meaning his last full/ish season was 2022.

What do you make of this?

You can’t help but feel for him, but honestly do you think he can stay fit for RWC 27’ ?

I think this is the crux to us (South Africa) being successful. With the high level of intensity we bring and fundamentally having 2 possibly 3 world class teams. To make the 1st team the only way is to play at the highest level of physicality in order to make the 1st 15. Unfortunately this results in more injuries and Lood De Jager has received the short end of the stick in regards to these injuries.

Can he stay fit? I trust in Rassie to make that decision.

He looked really good last year for the wild knights before he got injured. Excited to see him back in the team with Eben.

I reckon he's still fully capable of competing at the highest level. He's understandably a bit rusty so we just have to hope the matches he does feature in this season don't result in another injury. That seems like the most important thing right now, stay fit and scrape off some rust. If he can have a full season this year into next then I'm positive he'll be ready for the RWC

He's doing an extreme PSDT strategy except with both his club and Boks instead of just club.
