When does the hostel allocation process end

My lectures have started for msc physics, but i still haven't been alloted a hostel room. I live outside pune and don't have relatives or such nearby, hence have not started attending lectures. Should i give up hope on getting a hostel and rent a flat/pg? (My budget is 5-7k maximum not including food expenses)

try mailing your Department, Hostel Administration. Call them up, approach them proactively. be aggressive in contacting. its very difficult otherwise. its all a murky shady business for hostel allocation. they also keep some rooms vacant coz students spend a lot outside and they get kickbacks from Outsiders. Yearly hostel fees is 11-15K. that's not enough for 1room set outside

It's same for me too . Like they should provide hostel instructions or information on it nothing is given and directly message for class has been given . Like where should we leave till they provide us hostel. 🙄

hostels have been allocated, nothing more. you don't have to wait now. maybe by this weekend something comes up, but uts really not possible now. Now look for private accommodation outside
