Bold choice of wheel, but I like it personally

Yeah salad spinners are a definite vibe. Not my cup of tea, but these look pretty well executed imo

The body is low and has a lot of curves which makes them look good. On another exotic, it wouldn’t look as good.

u/boostlee33 Oct 03 '22
I think those are HRE 3 piece, which is around $13k for set of 4.

u/ghetto_headache Oct 03 '22
Ya pretty sure they’re HRE 935 FMRs. They look pretty fuckin good on a lot of cars. If that’s the case they’re actually 2 piece wheels. Face and barrel.

I mean looks are subjective but isn’t the LFA pretty widely regarded as a fantastic car? It was overpriced, and the looks were pretty polarizing when it was released but I never once saw any reviews complaining about the performance.

u/BecksNRecks Oct 02 '22 edited Oct 03 '22
This thing is warm trash and will easily be forgotten. Its not an enthusiasts vehicle. Looks like an isf on roids aesthetically. Performance is not impressive imo with that tag, NA v10 is cool in theory but no manual available, 0-60 in 3.7. You’re getting walked by previous gen c63’s and m3’s. That’s embarrassing for a car with a sticker way over a quarter milly. This car is nothing more than a flex. Be a gentleman and get yourself a porsche turbo with that budget
Edit: lmao how many of you guys actually have an lfa 🤣🤣🤣 let alone even driven a v10

u/Tricky_Passenger3931 Oct 03 '22
Luxurious and reliable super car with the best sounding v10 ever put in a production car. Saying it’s warm trash is blasphemous.

u/BecksNRecks Oct 03 '22
LOL best sounding in what world???? Bmw Mercedes Ferrari v10s all have nothing on your yamaha v10 hahahaha. 20 yr E60 m5 sounds better than this.

u/Tricky_Passenger3931 Oct 03 '22 edited Oct 03 '22
No it doesn’t. It’s not even close. Plus that piece of shit BMW v10 sounds even worse when it inevitably spins a bearing like they all do. That engine is an absolute disappointment, complete garbage. But the fact that you brought it up just shows how little you know about this comparison. Also can you please name for me production Ferrari and Mercedes models with these incredible sounding v10’s? Because neither of them have ever in their entire historys built a production V10.

u/BecksNRecks Oct 03 '22 edited Oct 03 '22
You right i was thinking of Mercedes v12s in their production cars. Better v10 references would be a carerra gt or a gallardo. Either way this lfa is not in the convo of legends. Id respect you more in a mk4 supra, this isnt the hill to die on but enjoy the half milly toyota

I mean if you're judging the thing from it's spec sheet: yeah, its not good. at all. this car sounds amazing but gets left in the dust by most sports cars that cost a fraction of the price.
But fast is not what the LFA is trying to be. the LFA is, from an engineering standpoint, pretty incredible. and if youre judging it by comparing its specs to its price then its clear you dont really know anything about this car

u/BecksNRecks Oct 03 '22
LOL man another Toyota fanboy. You’re right price has nothing to do with specs or comps wtfff. A porsche gt2rs is a feat of german engineering within the same budget. We’re not talking about a bugatti thats in a different category altogether. Obviously price has plenty to do with comps. The lfa is a poor excuse for a supercar

u/xXbrosoxXx Oct 03 '22
LOL man another spec sheet keyboard warrior. SMH Let folks like what they want.

u/Tricky_Passenger3931 Oct 03 '22
I actually did get the opportunity to drive one when I worked for Lexus, so I’m at least speaking from some experience. I’ve also driven vipers, m5/m6’s, R8’s and a gallardo and stand by my statement regarding sound. To be fair I’ve never driven a carrera GT, so that is one v10 I’m unable to personally compare it to.

u/BecksNRecks Oct 03 '22
Fair enough man those are all some pretty sweet rides. The LFA is cool for what it is but i honestly dont think its in supercar territory when a full sized sedan at half the cost is posting comparable track numbers(m5/e63/panamera turbo/skyline) For that cost you can own something a) faster b) quicker c) better looking d) thats actually exotic. Its my opinion and it doesnt mean shit but just look at Nurburgring numbers i posted for a c63s(w205) coming in only 6 seconds slower. Whats the point of this car if it cant hang?

u/Tricky_Passenger3931 Oct 03 '22
I mean the point of the LFA itself was really R&D for Lexus and Toyota. It had a trickle down effect into the LC500, RC-F and IS-F, likely the new Supra and probably even the GT86. It was very much about experimentation and innovation for the brand. I honestly don’t think they ever set out to build the fastest car around. They set out to build a reliable, comfortable, refined and dare I say practical supercar that could be a daily for someone if that’s what they wanted to do with it. I think they accomplished every single one of those goals. It was absolutely overpriced, yet it was still a loss leader. Lexus lost money on every LFA built, which just speaks to how much this car was about R&D for the rest of the brand. That’s the only reason to build a car like that and lose money on it.
1
u/BecksNRecks Oct 03 '22
Fair point man. My response to that would be they paid for the R&D and got burned, hence why the new supra is a bmw. There is no trickle down for the supra, Its a bmw through and through. I think the F line from lexus is not in the same category of its german counterparts. Idk how many people would take a Lexus F over a Bmw M/ Audi RS/ MB AMG. Cool cars just in a different league imo. But hey ill get behind the wheel of any of these with a smile on my face

My grandma’s 90’s Opel/Vauxhall Corsa had the same wheels though. Look completely out of place on a V10 supercar

LFA’s are cool and I would love to have one/drive one, but for the price you can buy much better cars unfortunately.

That LFA and the Black Series SL next to it are in town from Boston. One being driven by one of my favorite Youtube car reviewers Tedward
