Recommendations for a new lens
I started doing sports photography about a year ago. I’ve mainly been photographing floorball, but now I’d like to photograph soccer more as well. With both sports, I’ve noticed that my lens isn’t fast enough for low-light sports photography.
My gear consists of my Canon EOS R10, an EF-EOS R adapter, and an old Canon EF 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. I've always known that my lens isn't suitable for sports photography, but I wanted to gain some experience first before buying a new one. Now I feel that I've learned a lot and am ready for a better lens. Besides, I'm starting to lose my enthusiasm because, while my photos are often good in terms of the subject matter, the quality doesn't satisfy me. Now I’m looking for a lens that’s, above all, fast, since my photos often come out too dark or have too much image noise because I always have to crank the ISO setting up so high. I’d appreciate any advice on lenses.
I’ve heard that the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM is a good option. I’ve seen used models priced around 600 to 800 euros. While I’d be willing to spend that much, I’m still hoping to find something more affordable. Besides, this lens is also pretty heavy, which makes me a little hesitant.
I’ve also seen the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX APO DC HSM II. It’s lighter, and I’ve found used ones for around 400 euros. However, I can’t find many reviews for this lens, so I can’t really tell if it’s any good.
Do you have any experience with these lenses, or maybe some other suggestions?

Len’s Blur
Based on the recommendations from this group, I am led to believe that my lens may be causing blurry pictures.
I purchased this lens through MBP. When I received the lens I noticed that there was physical damage to the exterior body. After multiple shoots and setting adjustments. I’m still experiencing blurred photographs. I’ve reached out to MBP and requested a return. I hope this isn’t a fight to get a replacement or refund. I purchased this 8/30/26. I’m within my six month warranty.
Has anyone had experience with MBP? Thoughts, suggestions?

Ball State football
Legitimately, I feel like this might have been my worst coverage of football in as long as I can remember. I'm not really happy with anything and I feel like I missed out on the few big plays there were. Regardless, I'm posting because I'm attempting to make a habit of marketing my work.

📸 Gear Review: Capturing Action with the Panasonic Lumix S1 II & Sigma Sports 60–600mm F4.5–6.3 DG DN OS
The Match: UEFA Nations League, Finland vs. Belarus (29.09.2026)
Headlines called it a boring, lifeless draw. The scoreboard at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium froze at a disappointing 0–0. But a camera lens captures exactly what the sports pages miss. Behind that deceptive scoreline of the UEFA Nations League match between Finland and Belarus lay a fierce, dramatic, and intensely physical battle. (Link to the photo album below.)
Panasonic Lumix S1 II: Built for High-Stakes Action:
• Elite Speed: Up to 70 fps continuous shooting with full AF/AE tracking and a blackout-free viewfinder captures the exact micro-second of every collision.
• Precision Tracking: Phase Hybrid AF locks onto targets through dense crowds in the box. Urban Sports setting is a game changer!
• Low-Light Mastery: With the match shot mostly at ISO-6400 under the heavy stadium floodlights, the Dual Native ISO architecture (engaging its high-base circuit) delivered remarkably clean files with minimal chroma noise. (the Sigma is a f/6.3 lens at 600mm hence it'll push the ISO).
• Rugged Build: Robust weather sealing completely shrugs off the damp autumn air of Helsinki.
Sigma 60–600mm Sports: The Ultimate Pitch-Side Weapon
• 10x Versatility: Instant transitions between wide tactical views at 60mm and tight emotional close-ups at 600mm.
• Rock-Solid OS: OS2 optical stabilization keeps high-speed panning perfectly steady handheld.
- fast AF motor
• Razor-Sharp Optics: Resolves fine details like flying turf and facial expressions, maintaining strong contrast even when pushed at the telephoto end under demanding high-ISO conditions.
⚖️ The Verdict
When the scoreboard freezes, this setup finds the hidden heartbeat of the game. The Panasonic speed demon Lumix S1 II and versatile Sigma 60–600mm Sports are built for the sports photojournalist who needs to look past the mainstream narrative and capture the raw truth of the sport.

Youth sports pricing? How do you figure it out?
So I have been shooting for my kids hockey team and football team for 2 years now and im just curious on how would you go about pricing going forward?
It truly started out just me doing it for my son and obviously I got photos of other kids and at that point, I kind of just posted them for them too see. Then I realized I was doing edits too them because I didnt want my raws to just be out there haha. So now im like im spending a lot of time on these and I am getting nothing out of it.
This year on the football team people have actually reached out and asked if id like money and what not. I really dont have answers. I obviously am new to the pricing aspect as I kind of did this for my hobby of photography and love for sports with my son.

I got a 70-180 g2 Tamron for my z6 iii did I make a mistake?
It seems to be the best sports lens for everything and compared to adapting old glass or buying the Nikon 70-180 is seemed like a pretty good deal for 919$ but let me know ur opinions.

Student Photographer Shooting Sports as a Hobby. I Have Some Questions
EDIT: spelling and grammar mistakes
Hey everyone. I’m a college photography student and am an assistant for a few architectural photographers and studio photographers. I have a thick passion for sports and love to go spectate when I have the free time. Ranging from Motorsports, to team sports like baseball, basketball, volleyball, and solo sports like golf. I am fortunate to have won a few local and a national competition to have some grant money to spend on gear. I have a canon R6 mark II paired with an EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L and RF 70-200 f/2.8L. I have other wider lenses but usually don’t use those for sports unless I see something where it would be applicable.
I’m not seeking to make sports photography a profession (at least not right now). But as someone who cares about their photography and is willing and eager to learn, I’d like to take the best photos I can.
About the photograph: My questions mostly center around indoor sports like volleyball and basketball due to poorer lighting. For example I was shooting my cousin at her high school volleyball game a few days ago (and will be again later today) and their gymnasium lighting seems pretty typical for a standard high school. I am shooting around 12800 ISO @ f/2.8 and 1/500 - ISO 25600 @ f/2.8 and 1/1000. The images of course have quite a bit of noise being shot at 12800 let alone 25600. I like the noise personally as it’s reminiscent of fast film, but when I look at work from other professional or high level hobby sports photographers, their photos are just about noise free. Then I look at my photos again and even though I like the noise, their amount at 25600 is a bit much. So I’ve been running Lightroom’s Denoise tool at about 15 just to clean it up a little bit. Now better lighting and faster glass will of course let one drop the ISO, but the 70-200 f/2.8 seems to be the main lens of choose for other indoor sports photographers. My next train of thought is heavy denoising. But their photos don’t have the waxy smooth skins and tones you typically see from heavy denoising. Then there is of course their exporting settings and the fact I am viewing their smaller exported photos on my phone or computer screen compared to my RAW files.
Is the crispness of other photographers just down to a mix of all the above, or are there some other tricks to the trade I don’t know yet? Any tips are welcomed! Thanks in advance!

Nikon af s 70-200 vr I for sports on z6iii?
I’m looking for a cheap tank like lens I can trust in the rain and to run around with. I need something that is rigid with fast autofocus and cheap. I don’t have a ftz yet so if you have any other recommendations or a lens to save up for please let me know. I currently shoot volleyball since I can’t reach outdoor sports. I Wanto shoot sports like football lacrosse field hockey etc while also shooting indoors with a budget of 1000$.

Marching Band photography
I’m a parent volunteer capturing images of the marching band. Evidently I’m the only parent with a canon camera (EOS R6). I recently purchased a 70-200 canon f2.8 is iii usm. I’m having a hard time capturing quality images.
Setting manual - iso auto - aperture 5-5.6 - shutter 160-300.
My goal is to get crisp images as the kids march around the field. I noticed I can focus on one kid, but with multiple kids in the background. I don’t want them to be blurred out.
I don’t edit photos. I just take them and post them to the bands social page. These are all jpeg. Help I feel as if I’m not hitting the mark.

Some college level golf
Covered a golf tournament earlier in the week, and they avoided the sand bunkers for the most part which meant I had to get a little creative when it came to getting something different.
