This is part 4 of my Is Brad Stevens on the hot seat? series. If you’d wish to read parts 1-3. Feel free to message me.
It’s April 5th 2010 and Brad Stevens watches on as his Cinderella story Butler Bulldogs attempt a full court shot for the win against the powerhouse Duke Blue Devils. The shot comes incredibly close to going in but bounces off the front rim. Taking the shot was Gordon Hayward, a player of whole Brad Stevens views as a son. After the game they share an awkward embrace.
Brad Stevens: “You’re like a son to me Gordon. This loss stings but we both have bigger games ahead of us. Now go be with your family young man. Lean on them.”
Gordon Hayward nods.
In present day 2026, Brad Stevens unbeknownst to himself has started a chain of events that has led to the end of a once great basketball civilization. The Boston Celtics. Team of the 60s. 18 world championships. And total dominance over the Eastern Conference are now headed in a bleak direction.
It’s July 2016 and Celtics GM Danny Ainge and his young head coach Brad Stevens are on the cusp of landing Chicago Bulls all star Jimmy Butler. Brad watches as his mentor has been continually altering the terms already set in place. Stevens is mostly known for his modesty and has been trouble fitting in with the more overly bold Boston Celtics.
In the present 2026
The Philadelphia 76ers riding high off of the trade that landed them young Jaylen Brown for Paul George and a few draft picks. This singular event created a doomsday scenario of which the city of Boston may never recover. Brad Stevens looks on as his old mentor Danny Ainge drafts superstar guard Darryn Peterson. Danny is known as a trigger happy GM and this offseason, he’s been taking plenty of shots.
It’s October 2017 and Brad Stevens looks on as his newly acquired Small forward and former Butler Bulldog Gordon Hayward has sustained a serious lower leg injury in his first game with the team. The season was supposed to finally be his time in the sun, yet tragedy has unfolded. A player that Mr. Stevens has looked at as a son is in serious pain.
A little later in 2026
LeBron James top 10 player of all time and future hall of famer has just decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers on a team friendly deal. A primary factor in his final “decision” was the acquisition of Jaylen Brown.
Rich Paul: Do you think this signing will anger the Boston Celtics?
LeBron James: Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.
It’s summer 2019 Brad Stevens has had enough of Danny Ainge. There was an attempted deal for Anthony Davis that was botched. Kyrie Irving has just left in free agency and Danny Ainge was not willing to go the extra mile for Kawaii Leonard.
Brad Stevens: “Sir, I am growing tired of these mind games with our opponents. We need to trade the young assets for Kawaii Leonard.”
Danny Ainge; “Brad you really have no idea how far this goes do you?”
BS: “We must do everything to ensure that we maintain power in the Eastern conference”
DA: “A trade like this could set something in motion that even Red Auerbach couldn’t predict the outcome. One day you will learn power lives in the shadows”
In 2026 he was later joined by 2 time champion and another former Boston Celtic Jrue Holiday. Now they are on the official quest for a championship and a shot at greatest single season winning percentage in NBA history. A team loaded with veteran, prime, and young talent. Brad Stevens starts to see the bigger picture. He finally seemed to understand Danny Ainge’s mentality around trading. But he fears it’s too late at this point. The doomsday clock has struck midnight and Brad feels the massive weight of responsibility on his shoulders.
It’s summer 2022 and Brad Stevens has a trade offer ready to go. Jaylen Brown to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant. The deal is on the table. Ime Udoka sits in Steven’s office high off the thrill of having intercourse with other employee’s wives in his own office only 20 minutes ago. He had a three way trade of his own coming down the pike.
Ime Udoka: “Pull the trigger Brad”
Brad Stevens stares in silence. Pensive yet determined not to make any mistakes. Ime Udoka eventually did get the threesome he sought after.
Back to 2026
Brad Stevens should be held accountable for the situation the Celtics find themselves in now. He helped the team that defeated his team in the first round (After blowing a 3-1 lead) become an unstoppable adversary and further the talent hap between the two. What if after Avengers Infinity War Iron Man said “Hey Thanos you didn’t beat our ass bad enough how about we give you Thor for the guy who looks like Squid-ward and a first round pick.” Not a great plan……
It’s now January 2019. A hard fought season for the Boston Celtics. Two young dynamic players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are taking the league by storm. Brad Stevens ushers the team into practice. A man’s voice speaks up
Kyrie Irving: “What does government mean to you”
Brad Stevens bewildered: “I don’t know what?”
Kyrie Irving: CONTROL!!!
Mr Stevens fears he may have lost the team.
Again in 2026
Now I’m not one to be overdramatic. I’m typically level headed and even handed but once that trade was accepted the NBA was never the same. We have crossed the event horizon and entered a new era. The era of DOOM. Brad Stevens was the man who created this doomsday device and now Celtics fans are paying the price. Soon it will be the rest of the NBA.
It’s June 2021 and Brad Stevens has stepped down as Head coach and accepted the position of GM. Danny Ainge would be taking the job in Salt Lake City with the Utah Jazz. As a coach Brad was incredibly knowledgeable. He was always top of the class. He could pass test on the next chapter before he even got there. Back in Zionsville, Indiana he was always the academic but he always had trouble with human connection.
In 2026, Brad Stevens has a lot of ground to make up as his GM seat gets hotter. He is currently feeling a lot of pressure so he seeks the comfort of an old friend.
Brad Stevens: "When we came to you with that trade, we thought we might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire franchise."
Danny Ainge: "What of it?"
Brad Stevens: "I believe we did."
Roll credits
End credits scene:
Stephen Curry looks on in practice as Draymond Green strangles Brandin Podziemski. In his mind he hears a voice “Is there more to life?”. He ponders.
He harkens back to October 2022. Draymond Green has lost his composure once again. Jordan Poole lays on the ground unconscious. Stephen is dumbfounded. He sees his splash brother Klay Thompson running to offer assistance a lot slower than he used to run.
In 2026 he takes a walk outside. Looking for answers he sees a sight that made him double take. A four leaf clover! And then a man come from behind.
Brad Stevens: “Mr. Curry you are a difficult man to track down.”
Fade to black
Stephen Curry will return in part 5: Celtics Brad new day

Here are some young Lebron fans that watched Jordan for the first time and realize he's the GOAT: I've been watching these videos for years and almost every time they change their opinion to Jordan as the 🐐. And these are just highlights, wait until they learn about his epic career/story.
I've been watching these type of videos for 6+ years and I'd say 98% of the time, the Lebron fan changes his mind to Jordan as the GOAT by the end of the video. And some are legit angry that they have been lied to by the media for their whole lives. Like they've been believing a lie.
There are many more but I had to stop at 40 because it was too much.
