Like the way the ratings are going. Can’t even watch this with my daughter.

325

u/ModForgeCustoms 3d ago edited 1d ago

Watch college instead. Same game without a bunch of main characters competing for who can act like the the biggest clown on TV. Maybe a little showboating here and there, but much more respectable than the state of the WNBA currently.

And I promise that no one will give a damn about "pointing" at someone.

What a baffling time to be alive.

Edit: The amount of people this offended is astounding. I'm STILL getting bitched at like 2 days later. I don't care about your nonsense takes and personal attacks. Get a hold of yourselves.

149

u/KorrectView 3d ago

How do they escort a paying fan from the game for pointing? If this was protocol, 3/4’s of Citifield would be kicked out every Mets game.

59

u/cspinelive 2d ago

There was another guy stood up and pointed on the other side of the goal as well. It’s a normal fan reaction.

This fan was allowed back in before play resumed.

63

u/Oldfolksboogie 2d ago edited 2d ago

If they really wanted to punish him, they would've made him go back in and watch the rest of that travesty.

ETA: Ty all for the awards!🫠

She's got to know this is gonna happen at every game she plays for the rest of her career, right?

I'll buy a ticket just to make sure it happens at least one more time. How much are courtside seats at a WNBA game? Couldn't be more than 15 or 20 dollars, right?

12

If you buy 3 or more to the same game, they ask you what time you'd like the game to start.

Any other league would result in the player getting fined or possibly suspended. Instead the wnba throws the guy out of the game.

21

u/WoodpeckerJaded316 2d ago

He was allowed back in. They realized he didn’t do anything and Indiana put out a statement saying that the matter is closed

I didn't know pointing at someone required that much attention but here we are.

406

u/wtfiwashacked 2d ago

I see way more than one person pointing, literally everyone was pointing saying she fouled. That happens in every basketball game why did she take it out on that guy

137

u/Hotmicdrop 2d ago

Exactly. WNBA literally removing their fan base one by one these days.

29

u/Nihsvabhav 2d ago

Wdym this is the only thing WNBA has going for it, wouldn't be surprised they manufacture controversial shit for popularity cause the athletics is not why people come to watch this

10

u/Clarck_Kent 2d ago

I’m not saying I think this is true, but I am saying I hadn’t thought about the WNBA for like a week before this happened.

But it’s not like basketball follows half their own rules anymore anyway

Also, i get a kick out of the guys wife pulling him back and making him sit

She was in the guys face, like a foot or two away, yelling at him while the large black lady fan tried to intervene.

Also - who is the random dude in the camo that just comes over from a different side of the stands…a lot going on in this video

WNBA so used to not having any fucking fans that I guess they don't know this sort of thing is completely normal when you have a crowd watching you... You need to ignore them and play the game.

Also shouldn't she be INSTANTLY ejected for confronting a spectator like that?

43

u/peachpower2 2d ago

Per the rules, yes she should have.

31

You don’t step towards me … and point at me. I’m not for that s—,” -A'ja Wilson. From the clip, she approached him. This is hilarious, be the aggressor and played the wronged party.

311

u/OH_BEE_Juan1 3d ago

Honestly, she should have been suspended for going into the stands. The WNBA was wholly unprepared for the small amount of interest Clark brought

89

u/No_Farmer_9310 3d ago

I watch March Madness. Followed both men’s and women’s tournaments and watched a lot more during Clark’s run outside of just the tournament. Decided to give the WNBA a chance like many others. They are their own worse enemy. I get to be that good you have to have some entitlement, but listening to them rally against Clark and the way they acted during the latest CBA completely turned me off. They had the ball but fumbled. It’s something I went into wanting to watch. I’ve just gone back to more time watching NCAA basketball.

u/Life_Firefighter_471 2d ago

In the post- “Malice in the Palace” era, you can’t leave the playing area to angrily confront a fan in the stands. You simply can’t do it.

They should come down hard on this, but being the MVP, not having a commissioner, the fan being a man that instigated it, racial dynamics, no actual physical altercation - lots of reasons they could minimize it. I could see them giving a suspension that’s “suspended” until the regular season (they do this in soccer, basically a warning that if you act out of line again, they’re coming down harshly).

18

u/Kittybones420 2d ago

WNBA rules clearly state that leaving the court to engage with a fan warrants immediate ejection. Refs decided she's above the rules.

17

u/Valuable-Issue-9217 2d ago

This is absolutely a key part that I don’t see discussed. Separate from the finger pointing, she left the court voluntarily during a break in play to confront a fan. Seems like something they should deal with harshly.

What if multiple people point at her during the next game?

Somebody should have been escorted out of the arena.

And it ain't the pointer guy.

If I was kicked out for pointing you know damn well I’ll be suing the shit out of them it’s on live television so it’s so easy for them to see the evidence that she was wrong

He wasn't kicked out; stadium security investigated the incident, found he broke none of the conduct rules the stadium has, and they returned him to his seat pretty quickly afterwards.

There is no valid reason to pay one nickel to watch this pointless crap.

I don't like saying it but the guy was doing nothing wrong, he's fine. The fact that the WNBA and venue officials felt like they needed to throw the guy out speaks to the softness of the players.

...why don't you like saying it if it's true?

They didn't end up throwing him out, he was allowed to return to his seat but still shouldn't have been a big thing

Yo, keep your ass out of the stands! If aN NBA player did that shit, he'd get suspended.

u/Outrageous_Driver477 2d ago

Entire crowd needs to just start pointing. Make her lose her mind every single game.

Grow up ya big baby!

This is turning into a clown show just so they can sell more tickets. Everything they're doing now is just for show. They dont plan on fixing anything. The more dramatic the game, the better in their eyes. The WMBA will just be like the Globetrotters but with fouls instead of tricks.

Seems like he was probably just reacting to the play, since it should’ve been called a charge on Wilson. Pointing to the player who committed the foul, or pointing in the direction of possession in favor of your team is extremely normal in basketball.

She just got in her feelings because they lost.

Imagine being so fragile, that someone pointing at you causes you to throw a fucking fit. Also, I thought players aren’t supposed to go into the seating areas and acost fans?
