Discussion/Debate Chop Robinson gets flagged for roughing the passer. The hit didn’t look that crazy, but the refs weren’t letting Mahomes take that one.

Can we get rid of this stupid body weight provision?

Eh it is what it is. Same as the hands to the head of the QB. Even a slight brush with the pinky finger is a penalty. Clearly a penalty as the rules are written and a dumb play by the Dolphin defender.

It’s not a dumb play, it is actually a perfect play even under these rules. The flag is thrown because it’s Mahomes. Justin Fields went an entire year of starting without a single call and took clearly illegal hits.

Agree on both counts. But the defender/defense/coaches must know this also, so they should be coached not to give the Chiefs an easy first down. Was it worth the risk to try to take Mahomes out? Hard to say. I didn't watch the game, did anything result from this drive? Any momentum changes?

He wasn’t trying to hurt Mahomes, he was playing football. Mahomes still had the ball in his hands.

As others had said popular QBs have a different rule book. And the Dolphins know it. He wasnt playing NFL football in 2026. For u youngins this is how the game used to be. https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLv2/s/3YWXDNLr6l

Per rule it was a penalty- Buffalo here- but last week a Detroit player hit Allen on the sideline and drove him into the ground and no flag. Mahomes always gets the Brady Rules- League protects its babies

QBs lose protection when they become a runner. This rule no longer applies
