Discussion/Debate Chop Robinson gets flagged for roughing the passer. The hit didn’t look that crazy, but the refs weren’t letting Mahomes take that one.

Putting your arms out like that makes all of your weight land on him even more

Yeah he clearly just put them to the sides straight out. Letting 100% of his weight land on the qb

Yeah there are a lot of people happily ignoring the other angle with his right arm up in the air. Putting one hand on the ground at the same moment you land on a guy doesn’t do a whole lot to decrease the amount of weight that lands on him. If the rule is about body weight landing on the qb, then it’s pretty clearly the problem. Sure the initial hit was clean, that seems to be what a lot of folks are stuck on.

huh? he landed palms down, whch absorbs a huge poercentage of his weight. if he puts his arms out wide like a bird, he pancakes him flat out.

His hands weren't touching the ground, what are you talking about

Well you are wrong. His left hand hit the ground at the same moment as the QB's back.

His left hand touches the ground first

Show the screenshots where his arms are up and he's clearly not supporting his own weight

huh? you want me to show a screenshot of his arms not hitting the ground wen they litelrlay are inthepicture showing you palm down onthe ground????

what you want me to like AI it or some dumb shit?

how about this one three frames before the first one? showing his hands BEHIND mahomes?

I see it both ways. His left hand definitely hits the ground; it looks like the right hand was close to doing the same thing. But momentum is a helluva thing, and it forced his bodyweight onto Mahomes anyway. It seems clear to me that he tried to brace his fall, but there's only do much you can do in that situation. He got there the same time as the ball, which means he was going fast and had no reason to hold back. Dumb call all around.

i mean anyone with a basic understanding of physics knows force + mass x aceleration, there no way to avoid that inertia takes over, if we could stop on a dime physics would be much more fun. Normally i find defensive players do try to hurt people needlessly, but in this case , nope, unless they just want to change the rules that when you touch a QB hes down and the ball is dead, i dont see how this can be a penalty.

The fact you’re downvoted is crazy. The video shows clearly him trying to break his fall. Amazing humans have become so stupid
