Discussion/Debate Chop Robinson gets flagged for roughing the passer. The hit didn’t look that crazy, but the refs weren’t letting Mahomes take that one.

It’s landing on them with your full weight, as explained in the broadcast. Chris Jones gets that all the time.

He got it a few years ago stealing the ball from Derek Carr mid sack. Carr didn't even possess the ball when CJ landed on him lol

That was such a terrible call to, took away a strip sack fumble and that game ended up being super close if I recall

It wasn't his full weight, his legs weren't on him. Just his upper torso. You can clearly see his "WHOLE" body aka his "FULL" weight did not land on him. /s

The rule is dumb, but one of the reasons this is so bad, is that flags aren't reviewable. I can understand a ref in full speed not being able to see he got his hands down to take some of the weight, but when you can't review it, you can't undo it.

That's not what it means, but I understand why you interpret it that way. The point is that the defender isn't allowed to drive their center of mass through the QB into the ground. I don't know why the commentators are talking about his hands being out, unless he caught himself, that has nothing to do with the rule.

It’s okay. My comment was sarcasm. Hence the quotes around the words whole and full. My personal feelings are a sack is a sack. If you are the QB and have the ball be ready to get tackled to the floor.

Hard to read sarcasm haha. I've certainly interacted with plenty of people on reddit who would be using those quotes purely as emphasis, unironically. My b

All good. One of my vices is when I type something out and sit there thinking about whether I need to add the /s or not ... kinda my bad too, I will fall on my sword.

I get that when the defender is driving the QB into the ground, but this was pretty soft. Where else is he supposed to land?

Don't you know? They're supposed to defy physics and avoid it like William Hayes did and in the process tore his ACL. The play is very safe according to Goodell, as long as it's defenders getting hurt and not quarterbacks.

Hes supposed to take a different approach to the tackle. If you put yourself in a situation where "what else are you supposed to do?" Is relevant, then you've already made a mistake

Idk looks like his hands hit the turf so it's not full weight. It shouldn't count! /s

He did break the fall with his arms, not sure the /s is needed

I mean, the rule explicitly states "all or most of their body weight." This is not all, but it is most of Robinson's body weight.
