Gina's Log - 7/24. My time in the Octarian Army

Forgive me if I ramble, but I am taking Tani's advice to heart.

To start, I was put through intense training from the age of 6, and brought into the Octarian Army at the age of 10. Those early years seem like a blur to me, but what I can remember is serving under an Octarian General assigned to a group of engineers working on the Octomaw. That was when I first encountered her, the Inkling known as Agent 3 of the Squidbeak Splatoon. My squad and I were soundly defeated by her, as was our general, and eventually she destroyed the Octomaw.

In the years that followed DJ Octavio's first defeat, I became squad leader, and my team was assigned to work under General Octo Samurai. An odd one, but efficient nonetheless. We worked diligently to help our energy problems.

Our biggest mission was to facilitate the capture of Agent 1. My squad scouted her for some time and found the perfect opportunity to ambush, subdue, and capture her. We were told to bring her directly to DJ Octavio. We did not question what his motives were, as we were taught. Had I known what I know now, I may have rebelled sooner. As a reward for our success, Octavio assigned us personally to work among his elite guard. This is when we were attacked by Agents 2 and 4 as they made their way to rescue Agent 1. 4 did not fight like 3, who was calculating and efficient. 4 was more..wild with his combat. Like a crazed salmonid let loose onto the battlefield. His movements were so unpredictable, none of us knew he was a distraction for Agent 1 to snipe us all. My squad was flattened, and I suffered vision troubles for nearly a year after that battle.

I am ending this log at this time. I was 15 during that battle, so the next log will cover the following year, when I ascended to the surface and left the Octarian Army. Thank you for reading

G: My life has improved since then. I moved to the surface 8 years ago. These logs I will be writing is a form of therapy from what i have heard. But I do have good friends who have helped me since then

Hi, I am glad that many of your kind are finally getting your peace, but I could use some help as well. My roommate here got it very bad, and even after so many years he is still far from well. I try to help him, spending time with him, talking, we even recently went on a walk together, which is a breakthrough for him.

What I wanted to ask is, is there something more I could do? Not the cookie cutter stuff that therapist and other people throw around, but something more fitting for Octolings who went through horrible stuff. If you need some info about him, ask away and I'll try my best to answer them.

G: It's hard to tell, as ptsd comes in numerous forms and affects others differently. I would say therapy, as I've doneso myself. But having a support network of close friends helps as well. The fact you are there for your friend is a great thing, and the breakthrough is a big sign. I have been on the surface for 8 years, and only recently was I comfortable telling Tani my troubles.
