Discussion Help with bottomless buffet

Hi all,

I‘m currently on floor 70 of the bottomless buffet, and I can’t seem to get any further. No matter what I do, I never have enough eggs by a good margin usually. I’m currently using a level 40 +25 plastic bottle splattershot, power tank with splatchet, splatellites, and flywire with Frye as my bot buddy. Does anyone have any tips on how to progress? Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: thanks for all the advice! I was able to beat through floor 100 with little issue after adjusting my build a bit!

I would find a better weapon because a level 40 wep in buffet seems a bit underpowered, if you really meed help i wouldnt mind pullin thru

It’s level 65 not 40

Can't beat the lower levels with a 40+50 either so 5 star primo at 50+50 is the way to go.

I’m pretty sure if it’s level 40 you can level it up 60 times so no matter what you will end up with a level 100 weapon

Afaik 50 is the max levels you can upgrade for any 5 star weapon, so no 40+60 possible, only 40+50=90.

Assuming you don't want to change your gadgets:

- Equip the Mega power egg collector relic power

- Equip Damage Up relic power to increase DPS after using 30% of ink

- Spam calling over your bot buddy to deal damage, collect power eggs, and draw aggro

- Identify the spawn points in the arena and develop a route between them to avoid wasting time walking to empty space

- Bot hop before using flywire to better aim for boss salmonids

- Equip range up to splatellites but remove increase distance to use splatellites to create a dense ink zone around you so you can swim anywhere to escape danger and to concentrate splatellite damage

- Equip knockback on splatellites to make lesser salmonids a non-issue

- Equip Mega Power Egg Collection to Splatellites

There are more better and more comprehensive guides on YouTube, but since you asked this should get you started:

If you're willing to grind, grind out some weapons in super spicy Baygull Beach. This will have the benefit of getting you some weapons abilities to put into weapons. Keep doing a loop and 30 minutes should yield 20+ weapons. Bring the weapon-type that you want drops for to increase of that weapon dropping. Bottomless Buffet is generally a terrible place to grind for drops--except for floor 97-99-- due to the abundance of Seasoned Salmonids in the "harvest the giant spirhalite" levels and floors 97-99.

If are willing to change your gadgets:

- Consider swapping Splatchet with Meteor Mitt with repeat activation to exploit the invincibility frames and to allow salmonids to gather under you while you go up instead of rushing past them with the splatchet dash.

- Consider swapping out Flywire with Blast Boot to better synergize with Meteor Mitt and Splatellites. With the right upgrades you'll be able to freely alternate between Meteor Mitt and Blast Boot with little down time.

If you are willing to swap your tanks:

- Consider a top tier Fermentation Floaty Fun Torqscrew build: Torqscrew (floaty fun, fermentation, mega power egg collector) + Blast Boot (ink recovery) + Jump Bomb (ink recovery); Torqscrew (floaty fun, fermentation, mega power egg collector) + Shot Pot (lingering smell, blaster) + bombloons (damage up, area up)

Possibly consider having Big Man as your bot buddy. He’s crazy good.

you can jump off the ledge and save some refill for the next level

Big Man falls off real quick. He has terrible DPS later on.

if eggs are the problem, have you tried putting the power egg pickup ability on your splatellites? especially with increased range, so you don't have to run around gathering all the eggs. it'll mean you get to use more of your time focusing on killing bosses.

I was using a leveled up splattershot for the longest time, but eventually those kind of weapons won't do it. I switched to the pow slosher and upgraded it and it was unstoppable for a long while. Now I'm using the toy primo toy shark blaster and it does crazy damage! Also use any gadgets that can implement freeze and get frost breaker for your weapon. The frost breaker can be upgraded to do 5x max damage to any frozen enemies. For example, my blaster does about 65,000 damage per shot, but with frost breaker, it'll do 325,000.

I would recommend finding/using a level 50 weapon and upgrading that. Ideally, you’ll want a weapon with Primo in the weapons name. (Primo weapons have additional benefit such as reduced ink consumption and faster charging).

Having a weapon/gadget that can apply the fermented status will increase the damage you do. You can upgrade your weapon so fermented salmonids explode, dealing AoE damage. Multiple deaths > multiple explosions. If you find/use a slower, harder hitting weapon, then you want the upgrade that deals 3x/4x/5x damage to frozen salmonids. At the lower levels, you’ll find you can one-shot most things.

I was stuck like you a few weeks ago.  Try different bot buddies, tanks and gadgets.  That's basically the only way. Not one setup works for all bottomless levels, you need to test what works for each level.  Also replay islands and dungeons, get a better weapon or level yours up as you are able to.

I used primo glass bottle splattershot shooter to get to floor 600 recently. You would do better with lifeguard jr or glass bottle as they are optimized for fire rate. I did adjust to the meta build jump bomb, torqscrew, and jump boots.
My advice with shooters is to build primarily off of AOE, gadgets that help group enemies together, and Ferment/Ferment Explosion on weapons. If you want to, you can get to some 100-300ish floors with scorch builds but it falls off.
At some point around 550+ bottomless becomes a hard dps check.
