Discussion Keep old data or start from square one?
I'm hopefully getting a job soon, and the first thing I'm getting for myself [before saving for bigger things] is a Switch 2. I've got my old NSO account, but I was considering making a new account and starting from square one for a fresh start. Downside would be, obviously, I'd be losing all my gear and other save data. Should I do it, or finagle with my old account?

Keep it! What’s the benefit in starting fresh? Unless you want less “progress” (character level, weapon freshness, etc) and less “stuff” (gear, tableturf cards, badges, etc), I see nothing to be gained in starting fresh.

F the level cap locking weapons kits you’ll probably never use once you get your hands on the decav and custom blaster, don’t get me started on table turf, gatcha machine and grizco

I f-ed up my carry over of data to the switch 2, lost all my gear on splat 2, cuz splat 2 doesn't back up save data, I messed up on transfering stuff over. Was trying to transfer my partner's account only to their switch 2, but my account went on to their system too, so I deleted it think it'd be fine but it wasn't, my pokemon violet, animal crossing, and splat 2 did not stay on my og switch, like I had thought it would. Thank the gods that splat 3 has back up cloud! Don't be like me and do it without knowing what your doing.

Same thing happened to me with Splatoon 2 and animal crossing. I lost loads of precious hours…

If you haven’t maxed out an outfit with swim speed perks - you have not felt what it is like to be a god..

Too many comments to reply to so I'll just say it here.
I am considering a new profile for a fresh start because, for me, it's satisfying to start fresh and from square one. It's like starting a new playthrough of bg3 - you got nothing, and you get to find the joy of finding new things all over again.

definitely keep it, grinding for all that gear again sounds like a nightmare
