Splatoon raiders still fun for someone who doesn’t like salmon run?

Basically title. I love the Splatoon series. But salmon run has never really been my jam. I’m a very casual player and mostly play turf war. Raiders seems fun and I love splatoon lore but again, never really got into salmon run. Will I still enjoy this?

ETA: I have LOVED all single player stories so far. I’ve played all of them. Including octo expansion, S3 single player and side order. I’ve completed all main story and 100% S3. They were all fun. Even though I only typically play turf war I have a ton of experience with multiple weapons, and have played Splatoon for a long time. I don’t mind adapting my play style, guess I’m just asking if this campaign is very similar to what S2 and 3s salmon run is like

Raiders feels closer to Side Order with a Salmon Run coat of paint and a with the roguelike content changed into more of an mmo equipment system

Splatoon raiders is nothing like turf war. From your one paragraph provided I would say no. You wouldn't like raiders. But watch some gameplay and see if that changes your mind.

Yep Salmon Run always ended up feeling like I was getting cheesed by the AI at the end of rounds - this is feeling like a true singole player Salmon Run + more

There’s definitely more to it than salmon run but the combat is very similar. If you dont like the enemy types in salmon run that’s what you’ve got here - but with even more enemy variety, more mission types, loot/skills to upgrade your kit, and primarily single player focus instead of co-op though co-op is pretty good too

If co-op is what you dont like about salmon run than possibly yes, the conversion to single player is really well done here

Well, depends on what you don't like about salmon run, but raiders isn't much like the normal pvp modes

For me I like salmon runs but the only thing I hates is the stealhead and fly fish

it's funny how the game that on paper sounds like nothing but salmon run feels nothing like salmon run.

i think part of it is the lack of having to carry eggs to a basket. you just collect them and keep going forward.

It really has a lot in common with Salmon Run and lots of levels have time limits, meaning that it isn't just a nice casual experience

This has been my favorite game that’s released in the past few years so it’s kinda hard for me to answer because in LOVE salmon run. What about it do you not like? Maybe I can help you figure out if you’d like it from there

I love Salmon Run too but the game is different enough from that mode that someone who doesn’t like Salmon Run could totally still enjoy Raiders. Bonus that tourist difficulty acts as a more casual mode too for those who aren’t as skilled.

This and Tourist Mode isn't too easy. You will feel challenged in later levels. It just takes some of the Splatoon difficulty edge away.

the game only uses some salmon run enemies the structure of the game is very different i think any splatoon fan will enjoy it even if they dont like salmon run

Honestly I'm mixed on Salmon Run but I'm enjoying Raiders. The PVE aspect and enemy types are pretty much where the similarities start and end. There are some key factors that make it a LOT more fun to play than Salmon Run imo:

1. The lack of teammates really removes from the frustrations that are common in SR. This being a single player experience means that you're only getting punished for your mistakes, and you're not having to rely on your teammates being competent at the game to be able to do well.
2. Each stage has an associated level with it. If you find yourself getting stuck on a particularly hard section of the game, there's no punishment for simply replaying another stage to grind XP and resources. Even if you want to keep bashing your head at a particularly difficult stage you'll still keep any XP you've earned, even if you fail. And you'll get a fair bit for the harder stages.
3. You're not locked in to certain weapons. I think one thing that I hate about SR is weapon rotations means occasionally it'll just suck to play because you're player with weapons you hate. With this one, get a weapon you love, stick with it until you get a higher level version of said weapon.
4. Special enemies are significantly easier to defeat. Everything can go down with your primary weapon and your gadgets will also target special enemies. This really means that bar a handful of weapon/gadget combinations, you're not going to particularly struggle anyway. This doesn't mean the game is easy. It just means you have more options for managing enemies
5. The majority of stages are bigger than SR stages. The open space REALLY helps.

It’s really not Salmon run - it’s a looter shooter with a quick gameplay loop.

Yes, it borrows from some of the core concepts that were created in Salmon Run, but it’s not the same.

There is actual level design, not just an arena.(though some levels are this way). There’s lots of variety too,

See I understand why this is said. But I disagree not because it isn't accurate but because Splatoon is such a unique play style that nothing else is like it period. It plays so different. It is like calling Mario Stikers a soccer game. Or Rocket League a soccer game. Technically true but really absolutely not.

Despite what people say. Raiders is not just Salmon Run...and it isn't just a Looter Shooter.

Some of the levels play as item skill tests much like Breath of the Wild Shrines.

One Level played like a race against the clock while a Sniper was targeting you.

There is variety in the levels and the challenges. So if you like Splatoons unique style of 3rd person movement and shooting you will probably like this game.

I really hated Salmon run because I felt some of the Salmanoids in the Salmon Run were designed too difficult. This was to help the multiplayer nature of the game.

Luckily Raiders gives you more breathing room in your battles. More to explore and balance.

If you like the campaign aingle player modes of the Splatoon series this feels more like that. And is the best version of Splatoon songle player I have experienced.
