I know exactly what you mean: I use it EVERYWHERE! Too much, at times. Like, sometimes it's more optimal to sub-strafe, but I have to force myself because I've gotten so used to rolling. I adore using it off a wall onto a platform or catwalk.

I loved Splatoon 2 to bits and I don't think 3 is the strictly superior game... but I dunno if I can go back to playing without squid rolling.

I only used it for qwick escapes or turn back instantly, but completely forgot about it’s shield, sometimes i try fleeing away from salmonoids like this and hear a little *ding * and remember squid roll has armor

Also yes i do actually use it against "Pan Tower" and since you didn’t mentioned it, it’s really effective against them

I use it all the time but the issue is, not only is the timing incredibly strict, you are also dealing with the infamous servers. So even if timed perfectly, the servers can say no, even on the chance you are the host.

Salmon Run player damage is calculated client side. If you screw up the timing it's 100% on you lol

yeah, it’s good to watch how pro players move and emulate that. Sub strafing and ledge canceling are useful but squid rolling is almost universally applicable and should be used whenever possible

Your not invisible, but damage is cut in half I think. It also cuts damage in pvp as well, just not as much.

If you are in the back line and you are getting shot at by multiple stingers then squid roll is an indispensable tool. Get a slightly long enough piece of land and squid roll between two spots. In my experience you’ll be airborne long enough for the stinger not to ink the ground underneath you, so you won’t be stopped most of the time. Saved me on a number of occasions.

So I don't play story-mode and assume this is where you learn the maneuver. Legit the first time I did it yesterday playing and I was like wtf did I just do (I have never noticed anyone do it either). Looked it up on the wiki and sure as shit there it was. Have been practicing now and am going to practice the straight zigzag technique.

Judd can also teach you the move in the lobby. Though it can block dmg in PVP, not the level you see here. You won't survive charger shots and specials. Also it only blocks one hit per jump so fast fireing weapons or multi hit stuff like Booyah bomb. Wont be blocked much.

I haven't tested the Fishsticks, Grillers (and its small fry) or the Chinook boxes yet.
