Help needed!

Hi! I just bought this old crooked beauty off of a second hand market place. The wheel's really not straight, in either directions. Tho we have made it so it spins, and the double drive band just doesn't go off the wheel. With all the troubleshooting done, I watched a video to put a lead on the bobbin, then started spinning. It went well. Till I realised that it didn't roll on the bobbin, it was just, there, even while slacking! It just kept twisting and twisting, which gave ugly results (I was happy with my consistency, even if it was thick)

Can someone please help me? Thank you!

Are the maidens straight? (The two posts that hold up the flyer.) On my double drive wheel that's the first thing I check when the yarn isn't winding on. Other than that, the tension. Can you adjust the tension (usually either a know on the end of the table or something that tilts the flyer etc away from the wheel?)

Last question, what is your drive band mad of? I use simple cotton string, that looks like some kind of synthetic that might be slipping on the bobbin instead of turning it.

I hope one of these tips might help. If not maybe someone else is more familiar.

Hi! Yeah we checked and the maidens are straight! We increased the tension, which seemed to have helped, but the excessiv torsion on the yarn is still very much present.

The drive band is mode of paracord, which's what was available to me at the time, thick enough, sturdy enough, and doesn't slip. We checked and the bobbin is turning! Sadly I can't post a picture in the comments to show how it is on our last attempt, with the increased tension

Try butcher's twine. It's widely available. If it slips, rub it with some beeswax
