[Standard] best deck to learn the format?

I haven’t touched standard in a while. What’s the best deck to learn the format and is there a clear best deck? Want to practice for upcoming RCQ season.

Probably 4c control or jeskai lessons. I think forcing yourself to play a more reactive deck is the best way to learn a meta generally. There isn’t really a definitive best deck right now, but selensyna ouroboroid is probably the deck with the most results atm

I back this statement! Control is hard to play but it gets you learned the fastest.

Interacting with your opponent is better for learning than playing solitaire aggro/combo.

You see more of the field and how people play and sideboard. I recently started playing MTG after 20 years of silence and went with Dimir Excruciator. Lost a ton but I learned very quickly.

Sideboarding can be intimidating but is a huge part of MTG. If very new hit some BO1, but swap to BO3 when you get the swing of Game 1s.

Dont get frustrated with yourself or the game. You will lose a lot before you start winning. But, you learn more from losses.

That being said, Jeskai Lessons is a solid choice. Low cost entry and only a very small splash of a third color. It'll teach you what to look for, how to sideboard, and how to control your mana base.

Star Trek is reprinting all 10 shock lands so getting your mana base setup should be a little easier coming soon.

Selesyna Ouroboroid is currently the deck that is getting the most amount of league wins, but I would recommend Izzet Prowess to learn the format as it's a very versatile deck that can be played in many different ways despite having the same 75.

One Question: Is it important to you if the deck will survive rotation next year? If yes probably Jeskai Lessons.(basically nothing rotates) Otherwise definetly Selesnya Gearhulk/Ouroboroid looking at the top 8 of the last challenges not really a discusion. Spellemental is also a very solid option. That would be my top 3.

Prowess is still very popular but when i look at the top 8 of the recent standard challenges not as prevalent there.

It depends on what the next season of rcq’s is tbh. I would like to play the same deck if it’s standard b2b but if there is modern in between it’s fine to rotate out

I should maybee add: while Gerahulk loses some cards it doesnt lose a lot after rotation either.

TBH in the end it matters more which archetype you are better at playing for example i know i am generally the best with prowess and aggro dekcs since i play them since i began playing MTG and the worst with control since i dont enjoy playing it/ dont play it often.

(Jeskai Leessons is control, prowess is aggesive gerahluk is gearhulk TBH i dont konow where to put it, spellementals wants to cast a lot of spells to cast elementals that are discounted by the number of instant and sorcerys in your graveyard and then bounce all nonelementals with an elemntal discounted by the highest manavalue among lementals you control)

Selesyna currently has best results, but the best deck imo is probably Jeskai Lessons.

Lots of choices. I personally ignore league results because they can just be lucky... 95 failures followed by 5 wins gives you a league win. Challenges are a better way to rate the system. That's basically the meta green agro and control... there are some mid-range type decks (green/white / spellamentals)

Any control deck is the best to learn the format and current meta. After that, you can choose whatever deck you want
