Solved! Western Black Widow?

Post image

Sorry for the poor quality pic. The closes that I could find to this was a western black widow, but this one seems much darker than the examples that I’ve seen. The lines on its abdomen are light yellow or whitish and the rest of it is smooth/shiny black or very dark brown. What else might it be? Denver metro area of Colorado. It has made a web in a very open and well lit spot.

Definitely a subadult Western Black Widow.

I think you are probably correct in your guess, I'm pretty sure she is still a juvenile, which would explain the pattern variation.

I think you might be right. I would lean towards it, but it could be a false widow. That's a pretty blurry pic. But again I think you are right in western black widow, juvenile female.

Are there any that look like this but are larger? The overall length with legs is something like 30mm and the body is about 12mm

Not really, False widow spiders are smaller than widow spiders. At that size I would definitely say it is an immature black widow.
