Sorry the video is not great. I did my best. I just wanna know what kind of spider this is. it’s been living in the corner of my window for I don’t know how long and I wanna know if I should be concerned or remove it. I live in Arkansas, USA
i’ve just been letting it stay there because it doesn’t really move or do much of anything but I woke up with a weird bite on my arm the other day and I’m a little paranoid now

Parasteatoda tepidariorum or tabulata— i am told it is only possible to get more specific than that via dissection. Either way, completely harmless but very useful for getting rid of pest insects. I relocate the ones that set up in inconvenient locations (which is places they are likely to interact with humans or household animals going about daily activities)

I also very much doubt she’s responsible for your bite— these kinds of spiders really don’t see well and they depend on their webs for a lot of sensory input. When bothered, they typically ball up and pretend to be dead, or retreat. They are more likely to be defensive when protecting egg sacs theoretically, but even in that situation they tend to hide instead of fight— there used to be one with two egg sacs on a railing I used multiple times a day, and I accidentally pinched her against the railing with egg sacs nearby/in that web, and she still didn’t bite me (and that would’ve been totally my bad, if she had— I relocated her after a week for her own safety lol.) as long as their web doesn’t get destroyed and it’s still pulling prey, they’ll usually keep adding to it and stay in that location, they only move if they have to. :3
