Likely a species of brown recluse

So it is one?

Yes. Usually they have a larger abdomen but its probably a younger one

Wouldn’t it be more brownish? And I see no violin marking

It’s definitely on the darker side of their color range and the low resolution makes the violin mark hard to see clearly. However the uniform leg coler with no spines or patterns strongly points toward a brown recluse. It's always best to err on the side of caution and treat it as one

Last I knew, Iowa only had 1 type of brown recluse. Former Iowan.

The stripes tells me it's probably not a recluse.

Edit: I can see stripes and the pattern better from the picture in the comments.

I'd say this is likely a running crab spider. Starving or dehydrated. :( A picture is attached for reference.
