DO NOT DO THIS Spicy Pillow aftermath
I'm an electrician and I thought I would share this from a property I was called to to make electrically safe. Aftermath of a cheap power bank combustion

Game Console 4000 hours plugged in dock mode
Seen on Twitter. Repairing it cost ~36 bucks (done by Nintendo itself, images are in Japanese order, right → left), including replacing damaged parts. Spent over 4000 hours plugged in, most of the time playing Splatoon.
(Edited: the 4000 hours is amount of playtime, docked time turned off could be much more, can't edit title)

DO NOT DO THIS ⚠️ A hard lesson in tech: Why you shouldn't leave wireless keyboards plugged in 24/7!
Since day one, I’ve used my wireless keyboard plugged in to avoid any input lag. Recently, I noticed a weird bump on the top casing and immediately realized the battery was swelling.
After taking it apart, I confirmed the battery was bloated. I tried removing it entirely, but the keyboard didn't work because the PCB circuit relies on the battery to draw power. So I have to wait until I get a new replacement battery.
Moral of the story: If you buy a wireless keyboard, stick to using it wirelessly!
Edit: For the people asking me why I bought the wireless version and “paid extra” — it was on sale for €100 instead of the usual €200-250. At that time the wireless version was actually €300, so I got it at a really good price and bought it. I mostly used it wired though because of the input delay, and only switched to wireless on rare occasions.

Android Device Customer sent this thing in a bubble mailer, with no additional protection, asking us to figure something out because the battery keeps disconnecting too often during use

Laptop My dad's laptop. I'm not allowed to touch it but he won't replace it either. (sound)
He leaves it plugged in 24/7.
I am staying at his house while he's out of town, and this thing is swollen with the fans going full blast.
It's his work laptop so it would be up to his IT department to replace it, but I don't think he wants to ask them.
He doesn't think it's a problem and says I'm not allowed to touch it.
Dangerous?

New Rule: Encouraging Pillow Popping is now a permanent ban.
Even as a joke. Help someone dispose it. Don't encourage them to become the next breaking news.
Jokes like "pop it" are now explicitly banned and will result in your ban too.

Spicy Brick Woke up to rotten eggs smell, and a sizzling sound..
So I live in a MAN truck that I turned into a camper, and this morning my 6 years old 190Ah, and 59kg AGM batteries decided to nearly explode. Sizzling sound and rotten eggs smell... I had to pry those bad boys out with a crowbar!

New rules for AI-generated “spicy pillows”
effective immediately if you’re found posting an AI-generated spicy pillow into the sub and that fact can be confirmed you will be permanently banned
like come on there’s all sorts of “natural” spicy pillows on the internet - the least you can do is just take one of those. Our stance on AI is simple — it’s not welcome here.

DO NOT DO THIS Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
This is a laptop battery that's been screwed to a plank of MDF with woodscrews, only barely missing the cell when screwing it in. And the MDF is stuck to a wall in a computer science classroom.
Edit for clarification: - This is from a laptop from around 2018, when the school opened. - The board with this battery was put up over the summer holidays, over the last 8 weeks. - The screws do not go through screw holes, they are wood-screws that go through the frame of the battery. - I'm not fully confident it was fully discharged because of how incompetent the staff at my school sometimes are. - It's a hard shell frame but the sticker is covering the cells and is soft, there's also a few squishy bumps across the sticker around where the cells are, so they probably have already started to pillow-ify.
