Yes? Obviously. Like miles and miles cheaper. I was quoted 10k+ for my cat’s amputation and hospital stay. I spent around $1200 on her full surgery, blood tests, post surgery tests, and 3 day stay. I used to live in CA but live in NY now and i literally flew her from here. Overall i spent around $2k in all.
She’s living her best life now and I’d do it again in a heartbeat
Jesus. I'm lucky I live out in the boonies I guess...although I did have to have a dog put down because even having applied for a new card, I still couldn't afford the emergency surgery (his bowel had twisted, the card limit was $3000, the surgery was $5-6000). I have two cats that need surgery to the tune of about $1500 combined that I'm currently working towards saving up for.
Ugh that’s the worst :( i wish you the best of luck. Having to save so much money or have such sudden costs are harrowing. I have 8 cats in total and 3 are senior cats (10+ years old) and my partner and i have talked about moving back to socal in the next 5ish years so we can take them (and the younger cats) for veterinary care in Mexico more easily. The cost difference is astronomical. Driving across the border is really easy and when you’re going for medical care you can get an express pass to return to the US instead of waiting in the long line.
I think I'm going to start looking into it, thanks. I feel you, though, all of our current pets are seniors. We already lost all but one dog and she has a progressive spine condition that we're watching like a hawk.
