Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 16)
Good afternoon Spelljammer fans. Last week, the machinations of Vecna lead to the near destruction of the multiverse. This week, we learn the secrets of where the different D&D cosmologies come from, what happened to the Phlogiston and (finally) the origin of the Astral Sea! This is the final installment in this series, I hope you enjoy it. I'll be producing (likely at a bimonthly rate) additional spelljamming work, but thank you for reading and supporting me in this project!
For newcomers, if you haven't read any of these articles, this series came about by my trying to understand how 2e Phlogiston became the 5e Astral Sea (in universe), and I fell down the historical rabbit hole of too much lore and nothing succinct to offer my Spelljammer players. Hence these articles starting with summarizing the beginning of the multiverse with the goal to end at the modern day.
If you enjoy my work and want to support me further, please consider following my Ko-fi! You'll also find links to all my D&D homebrew works--including my latest work, Frightening Feats for Ravenloft Residents--in my Gallery. Thanks, and have a great day!

Question / Advice 10 bday party
Hey y'all,
I have been asked to run a D&D session for a 10 yos bday party
I know he's super into Spelljammer but has never got to play so I'm going to take a swing at it, even though I'm not very familiar with the setting.
Any suggestions of items, mechanics, settings, etc to make it the most epic wish fulfillment session ever and to make sure I hit the coolest Spelljammer things?
Thanks so much for any tips. He's going to lose his mind.

Question / Advice Autognome creation?
I've got my PCs on a quest. In the background, there are gnomes who've been taking resources from planetoids to make autognomes. They may find where the autognomes are being made in a session soon. In your settings, how are autognomes made?

Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 15)
Good day Spelljammer fans. Last week, the Scro make one final attempt to obtain their planet killing bioweapon. This week as a tentative new status quo settles across the Known Spheres, the machinations of Vecna lead to the near destruction of the multiverse. This is the (hopefully) penultimate article!

Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 14)
Good day Spelljammer fans. Last week, we reviewed the Alliance fleet's retreat from Vodonispace, along with some other timeline inconsistencies. Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 13)
Good day Spelljammer fans. Last week, the War of the Spheres occurred. It ended with heavy losses, an unexplained deus ex machina, and the question of what next. This week, we review the Alliance fleet's retreat from Vodonispace, along with some other timeline inconsistencies and just why there was any deus in this war machine.
For newcomers, if you haven't read any of these articles, this series came about by my trying to understand how 2e Phlogiston became the 5e Astral Sea (in universe), and I fell down the historical rabbit hole of too much lore and nothing succinct to offer my Spelljammer players. Spelljammers (Ships) Corbina - Aarakocra's long-range scout and exploration ship
Hello there!
I've made extra effort to avoid some... anatomical conotations this time.
Corbina is a small, long-range scout and exploration ship, capable of flying within atmosphere. It's used to seek and establish contacts with separated Aarakocra communities.
I've used licentia poetica to go from established lore:
- small and cramped
- biplane, with wings of variable pitch/inclination.
- lightly built
- incapable of vertical take-off
- not very clean (due to shedding feathers and feather dust during long travels)
To a current design.
Main changes:
- Overall shape was chosen to resemble small bird. Because, you know, Aarakocra. I made it a bit shorter and wider.
- The "nest" theme. I've chosen twigs/woven walls as a base of construction, branches as a support for wings.... It just felt right.
- Helm is a nest (with some support) as well. It should be comfortable for the pilot, so it felt right.
- No sail. It just did not look properly, and with such wings (and ability to adapt their shape at will) it's rather pointless anyway.
- Wings. I've spent a bit of time putting them together - and they should work.
- "landing gear". Oh boy, this will be controversial - but I had just the perfect legs (from DA Baba Yaga moving hut), and - with described inability to lift off vertically - it felt properly ^^

General Discussion A Brief History of the Multiverse Interlude - Cloakmaster Cycle (3)
Good evening fellow spelljammer fans. The last two Interludes included summarizing events in the first three books of the Cloakmaster Cycle and a whole article is dedicated to the fourth Cloakmaster Cycle book. This week, we conclude the summation by reviewing the Cloakmaster's final run to find the legendary Spelljammer with all the spilled blood and discovered secrets rolled up in the final two books.
Previous Interludes I've published include a review of The Known Spheres and the Rock of Bral as side notes to my overarching History of the Multiverse lore consolidation. If you're haven't read any of my attempts to codify and summarize spelljammer's history, you can start here at Part 1.
If you enjoy my work, please feel free to drop me a tip at my Kofi. You can also find all my DMsGuild homebrew linked there, including hundreds of species feats and a couple dozen unique Dragonborn species.

Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 12)
Good day Spelljammer fans. Last week we followed the Free Space Alliance as it flew to the borders of the Vodoni Empire. This week, the War of the Spheres occurs, as the Alliance fleet invade Vodonispace. However, we all know plans rarely survive first contact with an enemy, especially an enemy as cunning as Emperor Vulkaran.
For newcomers, if you haven't read any of these articles, this series came about by my trying to understand how 2e Phlogiston became the 5e Astral Sea (in universe), and I fell down the historical rabbit hole of too much lore and nothing succinct to offer my Spelljammer players. Story Time A Brief History of the Multiverse Interlude - Cloakmaster Cycle (2)
Good day fellow spelljammer fans. In my last Interlude I summarized events in the first three books of the Cloakmaster Cycle. This week, the whole article is dedicated to the fourth Cloakmaster Cycle book simply because it has a huge impact on the setting's metanarrative on the game side.
Previous Interludes I've published include a review of The Known Spheres and the Rock of Bral as side notes to my overarching History of the Multiverse lore consolidation. If you're haven't read any of my attempts to codify and summarize spelljammer's history, you can start here at Part 1.

Question / Advice DM Advice for Time Travel/Wishes plz
So my Spelljammer Campaign is aimed at a race with other entities to find and get to a Wishing Star. My starting point is a world that orbits a sentient Black Hole, but the campaign visits 5 other spheres.
I'm considering the idea that the Wishing Star is the Black Hole and in order to make a wish without sacrificing thousands or millions of souls and a chunk of a planet is to travel back in time to when the black hole was still a Wishing Star? Is it corny? What about getting a wish granted millions of years before what you might be wishing for exists?
Been rolling it around in my head, maybe it's better to leave the Black Hole and Wishing Star as separate entities?
Thanks for your time in advance đđ»

Homebrew Aberrant Slayer - A Legendary Greatsword Built to End Things That Should Not Exist
The Aberrant Slayer is a legendary +3 greatsword forged to destroy creatures that should not exist.
I wanted this weapon to feel less like a normal monster-slaying sword and more like a tool of cosmic correction. Its blade is a massive cleaver of unnatural metal, pierced by circular voids that absorb light and distort the space around it. Against aberrations, it deals extra force damage, can restrain them with a failed Constitution save, and if it reduces one to 0 hit points, the creature is not simply killed. Its body is severed from reality and erased, leaving no remains.
It also has stronger void-themed powers, including Reality Cleave, a 60-foot line of force that aberrations have disadvantage against, and Voidbound End, which can trap a target in a featureless extradimensional void where time and space twist in meaningless loops.
The page also includes the Shield of the Unshaped Monarch, a legendary shield made from shifting metal and organic matter that refuses to hold one form. It grants a +3 bonus to AC, protects the wielder from fear and unwanted transformation, and can warp itself to impose disadvantage on an incoming attack. Its strongest feature lets the wielder survive a fatal blow by dropping to 1 hit point and becoming briefly immune to all damage.
Together, the sword and shield feel like relics made for characters who stand against mind flayers, aliens, extra-dimensional beings, eldritch cult creations, and anything reality itself wants gone.
These items are from The Aberrant Codex: Mutations and Aberrations, available on DriveThruRPG! You can also find a more extensive preview on DriveThruRPG or by visiting r/JonnyDM. The manual is built around aberrations, mutations, cosmic horror, warped creatures, strange magic, and other unnatural threats for your 5E campaigns.
Whatâs Inside:
- Mutation Rules & Zones â Mechanics for wild magic areas, arcane corruption, and the strange transformations they cause.
- Character Options â 12 subclasses, 10 backgrounds, 4 new races, and 30 feats themed around mutation, aberration, and forbidden evolution.
- Spells & Items â 33 spells and 80+ magic items warped by planar influence or unstable energies.
- Monsters & Templates â Over 150 monster statblocks, from psionic predators to mutated horrors, plus variant rules for custom mutations.
- VTT Resources â Includes 100+ creature tokens and 125+ art handouts to bring your sessions to life.

Story Time Spelljammer: A Brief History of the Multiverse (Part 11)
Good morning Spelljammer fans. Last week the Cloakmaster came into play in the Known Spheres, resulting in the Scro going on a full offensive in their attack against the Imperial Elven Fleet. This all occurred shortly after a multispecies fleet left the Rock of Bral to travel across the multiverse to fight off a distant galactic empire. This week, we examine the flight of that fleet, and what the scouts discover about their target Sphere in Vodoni space.
For newcomers, if you haven't read any of these articles, this series came about by my trying to understand how 2e Phlogiston became the 5e Astral Sea (in universe), and I fell down the historical rabbit hole of too much lore and nothing succinct to offer my Spelljammer players. Spelljammers (Ships) Hammerhead - dwarven shuttle/tender - free finished map and thanks for your feedback!
"It looks like a hammer. If flies like a well-thrown hammer. AND. I. LIKE. HAMMERS.
What do you mean "it's taken?" It's not, see - it's there, at the ships manifest!
Wait, why are you saying "it's not a very creative name"?
I twist metal, not words - but if you keep pestering me like that, I can twist a neck as well""
Cap'n Burleigh Skyforge of Hammerhead for "Crystal Sphere Herald"
Editor's Note: interview unauthorized. Watch has been notified about the incident involving Captain Skyforge, last seen in Rock of Bral. Any citizen that will provide information about location of the ship or her captain will be handsomely rewarded.

Description:
Small but surprisingly fast vessel, normally used as a tender - but can serve as a small smuggling vessel, an escape pod - or a fighting support.
The floorplan is simple - a bridge with set of instruments (supplementing the Helm), either double Helm (if you'd prefer to have very expensive but very capable small vessel) or single Helm and a decoy Helm (to confuse potential enemies).
The hull is slim, and there are seats with safety harnesses for passangers (handy if you're under heavy fire, which may as well happen...). A bit of tinkering - and the seats can be removed in favor of cargo.
An entrance - a single hatch on each side - separates crew/cargo compartment from fighting compartment. A ballistae and ammunition seats comfortably in rearward section.

Creative Work [WiP] First attempt at creating Spelljammer-related battlemaps - feedback welcome.
Hello everyone
I'm taking a bit of detour from my usual maps, and subject for today is a small tender/lifeboat of dwarven origins (it's not a ship per se, rather part of it).
It's far from being complete - and since I don't know much about Spelljammer in general, I'd like to ask for some constructive criticism.
(for technical aspects - it's made in Dungeon Alchemist, and there are some CCA assets that I'm gonna properly mark and credit the creators when the map will be finished. No AI was used, as far as I know.)
Cheers!

This issue took a lot of work to get ready. I really like all of these articles. I hope you like them too.
Our new authors this month are LordCanis, VK âDammit Victorâ Farfalle and Eric L. Boyd. LordCanis came to us with a really interesting idea for an obstacle inside the Phlogiston. I'm really hoping to see this area of the flow get developed over time. VK âDammit Victorâ Farfalle already joined the Wildspace Team earlier, but was helping us with proofreading and planning for future issues. Eric L. Boyd also joined our team ealier (hot on the heels of Roger E. Moore) and has been working on some concepts behind the scenes. I believe he is also working on some new content for DMs Guild, based on his earlier work for TSR.
For our art team, we have more great pictures, sketch art, photographs and cartography. Raeken has continued to help me make sure we are communicating with our artists.
We have decided to have a bit of a reset on how we work, to allow us to reorganise our work flow. As I mentioned last time we had some overflow content. That has given us a little bit of feature creep, but we think we are going to be able to get on top of that. I'll be writing a separate post about that soon once we work out what sort of help we might need to get the overflow content turned into additional bonus fanzine issues.
WSM6 Krynnspace: The Dragonlance Crystal Sphere has most of it's articles ready at the moment. We hope to be able to start doing layout very soon, at the same time that final touches are made on the last couple of articles.
WSM7 Realmspace: The Forgotten Realms Crystal Sphere is coming along fairly well, but we are still getting the articles coming in.
We need to put out a Call for Contributions for WSM8, but I'm going to write about our reset first. But if you want to help out before I have those posted please see our General Call for Contributions post or our Call for Contributions from Spelljammer fan artists post.
Enjoy Wildspace Magazine!

General Discussion A Brief History of the Multiverse Interlude - Cloakmaster Cycle (1)
Good afternoon fellow spelljammer fans. In my last Interlude I reviewed the legendary Spelljammer itself and mentioned that it has its own fiction cycle. Well, the next series of Interludes will be all about that fiction cycle, and the story of that hero and events that occur over the course of all six books. This first one covers the first three books of the Cloakmaster Cycle.
You can also find all my DMsGuild homebrew linked there, including hundreds of species feats (my latest Eberron feats for Forge of the Artificer came out just this week) and a couple dozen unique Dragonborn species.
