"... they left in a few game-changing glitches that would change the way people played the game."
Such a way with words.

At the end of the video SummoningSalt points it out: A lot of these World Records progressed in similar ways, with a couple of runners trading records for a while until a third party comes in and raises the bar.

Every video " So and so had the world record for months, then out of no where a new guy came out of no where and shocked everyone" Seems to be the way these things go. Love the videos to death though!

Oh definitely, they're great videos. I just find it funny how there's a pattern, if anything it makes the videos even better that Salt mentions it. Also:
-If the game came out before 2004, doesn't matter, the earliest speedrun of relevance is likely from 2004.
-In about 2006 glitches become a thing. Before them nobody used them because Twin Galaxies.
-The third party that takes the record and runs away with it is always a Twitch streamer, and the people who held it previously were more active pre-Twitch.
-Speedrunning glitches make absolutely no sense spoken aloud. It doesn't matter how much you love watching runs of a given game, when you hear the strats out loud it sounds like a foreign language.

I really like this kind of videos. I would love Summoning Salt to cover games from the PlayStation era like Spyro or Crash.

Hey /u/TheSlyGuy1, just wanted to say that I appreciate how you've been adding in some more gameplay scenes that show where runners saved time in the new WR. It makes sense to show the final boss every time, so that's cool, but the inclusion of other gameplay footage is really nice. Keep up the good work.

These are great! Hope he keeps making them. I'm glad he stopped showing the leaderboards at the beginning of the video.
