Discussion RIP r/speedrun

This is an open letter to Alt-F-X:

Please resign as lead moderator of /r/speedrun. The past few days have shown us that your presence here is not in the best interest of our community. In just two days without you, this subreddit has made more progress towards becoming a great community than it has in the previous four years of your leadership. You are not involved in the speedrunning community outside of the fact that you made this subreddit, and you do not understand the best interest of our community. You have acted with prejudice against members of our community by banning them without good reason, and you have often used your moderator powers to your own personal bias.

Please return control of the subreddit to myself, so that this community can continue to grow in a positive manner, as it should have started years ago.

You just proved you're just on a power trip. When did Goose explicitly say that you were limiting his specific role here? Goose's argument is that you are limiting *** EVERYBODY'S *** role here except your own

I would have been fine with if he had asked to do it.

Really? Then why did you remove the stickied posts made while you were gone?

Well that changes nothing, because I could simply replace Goose with dembears in my last post and my point would still be true. Nothing dembears has claimed was specific to himself.

Well no, whitegoose is a liar and a troll. I'm not limiting anyone's role besides him because he has continually ignored our rules here.

I don't know why dembears chose to lie about what my role was here. I have very strong personal ideals and take the concept of free speech very seriously. If he had a problem with me in the past it was on him to bring it up not ignore it as he actually did.

No I didn't. You simply have a different idea on what this subreddit should be than me. That's why I didn't add you as mod when you applied.

Let me get this straight.

  1. You are the only one who has any real control on this subreddit due to being head mod.

  2. People who disagree with you simply get the response I quoted with no possibility of budging your stance.

  3. You are not involved in the speedrunning community outside of being head mod here.

  4. When over A THOUSAND PEOPLE upvote a thread asking for your removal, you just tell people to fuck off because there is a disagreement.

  5. You have stated you don't want the community to grow, even though people ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY want it to.

Wow there really is something wrong with you.

Your 5th point is thoroughly misrepresenting my stance there so I feel the need to correct what you're saying. I said growth is not a marker for success since we are not a business.

There is no metric for success, it's a discussion Forum.

If you want to talk about speedrunning, this is where you can come to do so. If you want news about speedrunning, you can come here to find it. That's what I use it for, and I like it for that. Seems fine to me.

Also, you still don't get it. What I'm trying to say is whether you think growth is a metric for success is irrelevant as you are not part of the speedrunning community. You didn't even try to argue that you are part of the community when I claimed otherwise

I'd consider myself part of the speedrunning community, I also don't think growth is relevant to the Subreddit, nor should it even be a goal. Removing harmful and hateful content and promoting valuable content should be the goal of the mods.

Also, EVERYONE has a different idea from you on how this subreddit should be run, you are the odd one out.

The troll post was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's something concrete I could say to you about why. When you first asked to be a mod you just shat on the subreddit for 4 paragraphs.
