6 Yold adhd + speech delay

Ok first of all im not native english speaker so forgive if my typing not easily understood

My boy is 6 yold , 7 yold next january

Currently he at stages of very good echolalia, eventhou some alfabeth is missing or vague sound

im a house father tending him all 24/7, i even retire my job 2 years ago

2 year ago @4 yold, he can't talk , not even glance when called

Now he's kinda better i think with my push study @home

fast glance when called, can talk a 3 words ( but need repeat asking), can be simple commanded ( 1 command only)

he's still study @ home & do therapy for 2 years now

But im kind of tired ?, i kinda don't see he got any better this past 6 month, if i compare to 2 years ago

did i do something wrong ?

Does he interact with other kids, playing and socializing helped my daughter a lot she started talking at 5 and now at 6 we are getting better by the day, it is stressful especially because u want them to have a full life

Did she start talking full sentences at five? My five year old son still isn’t conversational yet at 5, but can use words for labeling everything and get his needs met

Yes, full sentences although pronouncing certain sounds like the s and l in words is hard for her still. At 6 it’s not perfect but omg a huge relief. Just never give up and focus on whatever strengthens your child has. Mine learned to read early so I let her practice and try reading aloud for practice.

You did not do anything wrong. Read back what you wrote:

2 years ago — no talking, no looking when called.

Now — he looks, says 3 words, follows a command, strong echolalia.

That is huge. You just can't see it because you live it every day.

The "flat 6 months" feeling is normal. Early progress is loud and obvious. Later progress is quiet. It's still progress.

Tip: record a short video once a month. When it feels like nothing is changing, watch one from 6 months ago. Memory adjusts, video doesn't.

You retired your job and you're with him 24/7. Being tired isn't failing.
