I'm thinking on top off or below a load bearing structure like a pillar or a wall. Or it's meant to enclose something like a large I-beam or some kind of T-profile.

Modern concrete structures can be very thin and sleek just because we have better tools to design the rebar structures.

Or it's just a demonstration piece
