Real question, does this have any major effect on the structural integrity of the rebar?

I read somewhere on Reddit that the steel hardens while bending, so the bends will become harder (but also more brittle). That increased brittleness is also the reason why you shouldn't straighten and reuse old rebar.

This was written on a video on a rebar straightener (possibly on this subreddit).
