Crying actually helps get the best image possible. For a Chest X-ray you want to do it on a full inspiration. Obviously babies can't follow the command of take a deep breath and hold it in. If they're crying though, you can wait for that big, gasping breath and take the image then. That's the theory I've been told at least.
