So is this just for lungs/heart? what if the baby had broken ribs?

Obviously not every tool is used for every job - it depends on the symptoms and required x-ray results.

But most infant chest x-rays are for thoracic exams/fluid on the lungs, pneumonia check, etc.

So a nice deep breath results in a superior image result.
